Are there any current or future Blu-Ray players that will play ripped DVDs from a thumb drive?

I have the full-size rips of my DVDs not yet released on Blu-Ray on my computer and would like to dump them to an 8GB thumb drive for playback. Is this possible? If not, what format if any would I have to convert them to for the highest quality playback?

The OPPO BDP-83 will play individual .vob files but not complete DVD directory structures, so there are limitations.

Limitations include a slight pause between VOB files, no ability to navigate menus, no ability to select Chapter or Titles, etc.

Do you anticipate Oppo adding this function somewhere down the line?

What's the best format I can transcode the movies to for thumb drive playback?

This isn't a must for my next Blu-Ray purchase but if it can be done without losing too much quality I would rather dump a movie to a thumb drive than hook up my laptop to my home theater.

No. ISO and IFO/BUP support is basically a calling card of "Piracy", so I highly doubt that OPPO will allow for the proper playback of DVD-Video media over USB in any future firmware release.

MKV (use h.264 for video) will be the best solution, but will require that you re-encode your source material.
