Anyone with experience repairing Samsung Bluray players?
I purchased a Samsung BD-P1590/XAA bluray player for my folks two or three years ago. It had vary light usage. I tried playing a new Bluray disk in it last week and it keeps popping up a message that "This disk cannot be played". DVDs play fine. No blu-ray disk plays in it any more (used to not have any problems) and they all come back with the same message. I upgraded it to the latest firmware and performed a factory reset but still no dice.
So I popped the unit open and started playing with the 3 potentiometers (VR1, VR2, and VR3) by the lasers. They obviously affect the behavior of the player but I'm not sure what each of them does and can't seem to be able to improve the player's behavior at all. Is there anyone that could shed some light on this and / have any advice on what to try. I'm assuming that there is some sequence to turning these since they must do that in the factory.
If the player is dead then that's fine but I want to put some effort into trying to repair it first.
