The 2000es does not do master audio. The 1000&5000 are the ones to get. Also the 2000es is slower than molasses in winter.
I bought the 5000 es to replace a finicky 360 Sony. Been extremely happy with it.

Hello all,

I'm in the market for a blu-ray player that has analog outputs. I have a Onkyo TX-SR703 receiver that I like a lot. The only drawback is no HDMI. Other than that, it's great. I don't really feel like dropping a bunch of $$$ on a new receiver and a blu-ray player so I figured i'd go for the player only at this time.

I've done a little looking and I don't see a lot of options out there so I thought I'd ask here. I don't think I want to spend any more than $200-$300 so i'm hoping some of the posters here can help out.

Thanks in advance! Any help is much appreciated.

Any player that supports 7.1 analog outs will also support 5.1. You configure for 5.1 in the player's setup menus.

Panasonic DMP BD85

Most manufacturers top model are the only ones with a 7.1.

In the sticky section at the top of this forum is the Bluray Player Audio Support Comparison Chart.

Check the "Analog" column.

That list needs a good updating....the BD85 I noted is "blank" under analog...(actually blank all the way across except for 2.0 and "non 3D")

I own the BSP-5000ES and the 1000ES and the 1000 is junk by comparison to the 5000ES. In fact, the 1000ES sounds thin and cannot play the frequency extremes like the 5000. I think the 5000ES may have the best 5.1/7.1 analog sound on the market.

Better than the Oppo 95, I would have to hear it to believe it.

There's a strong possibility it is better than the Oppo BDP-95. When it was new, the Sony BDP-S5000ES was the best DTS-MA and True Dolby HD analog out player on the maket. I guess only a shoot out would settle this fact, however.

Can anyone recommend a current player with 7.1 analog outputs? Seems they are no longer common on the latest blu-ray players. Gaah!....I held out too long.

I prefer sub-$400 players

I'm really disappointed Pioneer has no options.....even the Elite.
The only options i see now are:
Panasonic BD85k
Samsung C6500..........both are limited availability.
Yamaha BD-S1065BL........terrible reviews

thanks

Why are you only looking at 7.1 audio out players?
Is it because your current pre/rec is 7.1 analog only (no HDMI)?
Do you currently own a 7.1 player?

Good luck!

The Oppo is a bit out of you stated price range, but worth the extra $100 imo.

Otherwise, I think you can still find the Panny online.

Try finding an Oppo 83 instead of considering the 93. Amazon has 3 used players priced at 399.99 right now. I've had one for nearly 4 years and it's a great player. Used the analog outs for about a year and a half until I upgraded my processor. The AQ was excellent.

I just saw both the BD85 and the C6500 open box at BestBuy, I would check your local stores if I were you.

Its been a while since I checked this thread, but I purchased the Oppo BDP-95, but sent it back because I felt that the Sony BDP-S5000ES had a far superior sound in both True Dolby HD, DTS-MA and regular DD and DTS 5.1. To me, the highs and mid range frequency of the Sony were so much better, it wasn't even close. So I sent back the Oppo although I felt it was a geat machine.

My receiver has an HDMI issue and the firmware update opens another can of worms that i want to avoid. I would like to have the 7.1 analog option.

Looks like i need a 10MY player.

Cool spread sheet.

Yeah, what I was getting at was your rec & if its time too upgrade for a little more than the next player would cost.
Electronics keep getting better & cheaper, however one reason they get cheaper is less features.
Great if you did need those features.
Ugly if you do.

Still, looks like you have some choices.
Good luck!

You might want to repost and search the "Help Me Choose" thread at the top as mods will more than likely lock this one. As Kal said Oppo is an option as is the upcoming Panasonic BDT500. 85 and 300/350 have been discontinued for about a year.

Monoprice.com is selling a Blu-ray player with 5.1 analog outputs for $77:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

No idea how good it is. At that price it certainly won't compare to an Oppo (or the DMP-BD85, most likely). But it's probably serviceable.

EDIT: I see that you already found that one...

Which bluray player to go with? Need suggestions!

I am in need of a new bluray player that has 5.1 or 7.1 analog outputs. I am using an Anthem AVM-20 pre-amp fed into a Rotel amp. My tv is a smaller 32 inch Sanyo. My pre-amp does not decode the new audio codecs, nor does it have hdmi, so I will need a player that can decode both ddtruehd and dts-ma. What would you guys suggest for me? I would love to purchase a new Oppo, but unfortunately, due to having some health issues, I am not able to work right now and my budget is somewhat small, $300 and under. Suggestions??

Hey guys. I am looking for opinions on comparisons as to which would be the better bet for a bluray player to hook up to my Anthem AVM-20 via analog 7.1 outputs/inputs for ddtruehd and dtsma playback? These can be had for similar prices so I need to pick one to go with. Both are under $200.00, and, if there are any other BDP's that have comparable or better 7.1 analog output playback, in the same price range, then by all means, post it up!

I'm waiting for the soon to be released Panasonic DMP BDT500. Street price should quickly be at roughly $300.

Pioneer BDP-320 does excellent analog 7.1. Shouldn't be hard to find used.
