Hi. I've got a couple of questions concerning motion conpensation of both Blu-Ray and DVD movie files:

- First, why on both DVDs and Blu-Rays I can't pause and forward frame by frame the movie (saying each frame out of 24 per second, like you can do on any LaserDisc or even VHS players)?

- Is it true both DVDs and Blu-Rays use motion compensation to compress the movie files in order to fit onto their specific discs? Wikipedia mentions about motion compensation and its p-frames (type motion compensation on wikipedia)

Hoping someone will answer. Thank you. Sam.

It would depend on the player. The OPPO models do this.

Thank you for the OPPO link. Why is it only that brand making the frame by frame feature? Why not Sony or Panasonic? And does an OPPO BD player actually decompress the movie file codec like a computer or something, in order to get the 24 frames?

Also, is it true the motion compensation thing on Blu-rays and DVDs (which means there are mainly predicted frames instead of the orignal frames)?
