It appears that LG has withdrawn that version from their server (it no longer offers that up in response to an update check) due to its "screw your wireless MAC address" bug, and it never was released as a pair of files. So now, once again, the answer is to keep waiting.

Just out of curiosity, do you mean that "Terminator 2: Skynet Edition" will turn the BD570 off even if BD-Live is disabled and 1080p output is set to 60Hz.?

Here comes the flood of T2 and 570 return calls.

People are going to just bitch that their machine won't play just to (try) to get a 670 for free.

Earlier yesterday my 590 wanted to DL SW Vers BD.8.31.334, Didn't do it after reading here.

Now it still wants to DL Driver Vers H80602. Probably not a good idea, any thoughts on the Driver Vers by itself? I am using WiFi, so don't want to risk it.

The servo driver H80602 is an update to the BluRay drive itself. You are safe to update this without it affecting your WiFi.

lol

Well I'm sending in two more this week, so that's three that I'm responsible for.

After much discussion with them they basically said the 570 is not capable of playing that title and never will be and that this is the only solution.

The issue if anyone can't remember is that BD570s simply can't play Terminator 2: Skynet Edition. That movie put in a 570 will cause it to turn off. I've seen it happen on 3 players in person and I've gotten a message from another user on this forum who has the same issue. I have seen the movie play in a variety of other players, different models from LG and other manufacturers. It's the only blu-ray version of T2 worth buying, the picture quality is a clear improvement from the other release.

A few weeks back in March I decided I'd give LG one last call about this issue. This time I managed to yell my way up the food chain to someone that actually listened. This manager person had me send my BD570 and the blu-ray of Terminator 2: Skynet Edtion to LG, LG paid for the shipping. Once they received it tech support told her they FINALLY were able to reproduce the problem. This says to me that they never did test this issue properly before, they must have been using the original blu-ray of T2 or a different model of player, IF they ever bothered with any testing with this movie..

Anyway after several days of waiting they presented me with the solution, which is they are replacing my BD570 with a BD670. At this point I know two other people with the same problem and this woman at LG is insisting we send in their 570s asap, which thankfully LG is also paying for.

So to everyone that owns this movie and a BD570 the solution is simple tell them you are having the same issue I was and insist that you get the same thing done. Make them replace your defective 570 with a 670 that can actually play this movie.

Totally ridiculous that it took this long for a solution. When I do finally have to buy another player it's not going to be an LG.

I called them today and was told that they have no knowledge of these issues even existing. I will be contacting executive support on Monday.

Wow. I can't believe they actually said that. How horrible. Especially since it's such a popular movie. Then again, it took me about 6 months of complaining before they fixed the issue with 'The Rock.'

Hahahaha, yes! If you can manage to get yourself a 2011 model for free, that would be really awesome. You'll be able to have 24hz playback AND WiFi.

By the way, my 2011 model is also giving me problems with 'The Proposition - Special Edition.' Seems to be the only disc that has issues. If *anyone* has this title, and has any LG system, please let me know if chapters 5 and 6 play! Thanks!

I have The Proposition, but it's not the Special Edition. From what I have read the SE just adds a DVD copy of the film, then first disc is identical. Anyway, it plays fine on my US LG BD570 with .334c and the H80602 driver. I have never tried this disc on a prior firmware.

Now, on to more important things, MLB.TV scam..Anyone here able to get it to work? For more than 20 seconds I mean...Major issues. Looking for feedback HERE where we can talk about it. The forum at MLB.TV is 4 pages long in 20 minutes about this issue.

Agreed about the caution which should be used with LG "updates"...I'm also fortunate to have read the posts here before declining the pushed update.

Thanks to you and the others who have posted about the MLB.TV debacle. I was going to subscribe but have decided not to based on these inexcusable problems. I tried to read the related support forums but MLB.TV limits participation (even read-only) to current subscribers-- I guess that is one way to limit bad exposure to problems!

I've not owned an LG product before my BD570 and based on the identified extremely poor support, woeful firmware/software evolution to correct inherent problems, and inability to utilize advertised features (e.g., MLB.TV, 24hz BD & wireless simultaneously, etc.)-- I can't imagine spending more money for a future LG product.

Looks like LG might be killing two birds with one stone on the 334 and the MLB.TV issue. In the past 24 hours, here are some of the more meaningful moderator posts on MLB.TV forums (which you can't access unless you're a subscriber):

"we are experiencing technical difficulties, LG is supposed to release a Firmware update sometime next week or maybe later in the month, which is going to solve this issue. Thanks for your patience."

"We are working on resolving this, an update will be available in Early-Mid April. I apologize for the inconvenience."

"LG will be sending out an update soon to correct the current issues. we do apologize. you can still stream games on your computer until the update is pushed out."

Nothing clear, for sure, but perhaps the next update will not only benefit the MLB.TV subscribers but also help the 334 problems, too!

The thing with MLB is that THEY are the ones providing LG the updates. "maybe mid-April"? LG would NEVER give an estimate of time. Note the key phrase(s) "We are working on resolving this", "I apologize for the inconvenience.", "Thanks for your patience.". All these are clear indications the problem lies with MLB and NOT LG. If indeed it were on LG's part, MLB.TV would tell us (with phone number/email addy) to talk to LG.

As to the .334 update, that had nothing to do with the apps. An entirely different non related matter completely as evidanced by the posts here.

Is it anticipated that future software updates for the BD5XX series will add any applications to Netcast? Or will they be focused on bug fixes (or possibly bug introductions )?

I just sent the following email to Bob Sullivan, the MSNBC tech columnist, at: BobSullivan@feedback.msnbc.com regarding these LG and MLB.tv snafus:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bob,

You may want to do a story on the major bungle with the LG Blu-ray players and their MLB.tv app not being able to play baseball games so far this regular baseball season (not to mention NONE of the spring training games).

Seems MLB.tv made a major change to their video streaming and neglected to get the appropriate software changes to LG. So, tens of thousands of baseball fans were unable to watch any games on opening day, and still to this day, with their LG players. We pay $120 to MLB.tv per season for this "service", and have been without it for 3 days now with only the lame promise that a fix may be available by the middle of April!!

Not to mention the fact that LG's recent 334 firmware update caused all players to lose their WiFi connectivity.

You can find details and dozens of outraged fans at the following two threads on the AVS and MLB.tv forums:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...3#post20239683

http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/pfx/foru...elp01&tid=6750

Excuse me, but I paid my hard earned cash for the LG BD570, which they built defectively. We have all collectively wasted who knows how many hours trying to figure out the solution to this problem on our own, then more time dealing with LG's customer service, troubleshooting, downloading, rebooting. Not to mention the frustration.

The LEAST they can do is replace our BD570 with a machine that works PERIOD. Free would be if they refunded my money AND sent me the BD670 with check for $100.00 for my trouble.

This is a marketing nightmare. Word will get out. Eventually this will mar their reputation which will cost them far less than setting up a replacement program for the BD570.

We need to ALL call their customer service and complain collectively, or we are just kicking the can down the road. Right now I have wi-fi and my Blu-rays play at 60Hz, but that is a compromise at best.

United we can force them to address this problem the way ANY reputable company would: REPLACE WITH NEWER FULLY FUNCTIONAL MODEL NO QUESTIONS ASKED. POSTAGE PAID. OR NONE OF US SHOULD EVER BUY LG AGAIN. EVER!

You CANNOT do what you want to without the proper app and that won't happen in our lifetime. Sorry, you are SOL.

You honestly believe that because the 570 won't play T2 Skynet that will "mar their reputation"? Where is that damn laughing icon when you need it? LMAO. Like that massive conglomerate cares what YOU and a drop in the bucket number of consumers has to say? They can weather the best you have to throw at them and laugh at you in the process. I have T2 on HD DVD and it plays perfectly and is the best transfer available. So we "ALL" do not need to call and get a player worth MORE than what was paid for the 570 for FREE.

Now, had you bothered to follow the posts in the order of descent then you would have realized I was making a sarcastic remark.

If one is indeed having issues with their player, then by all means, contact LG and if it can't be fixed, then it is LG's option to replace or repair. But it certainly isn't in ANYONES best interest to have LG set up a replacement plan for "ALL" 570 players as what affects you does not neccessarily affect me. A program like that however would certainly cause a massive increase in all future products as they can't just give away new machines like they were candy. You'd have people buying these things off craigslist and ebay for $50 and sending them in and getting a $200 machine in return.

You really should think things thru before spouting off to me or anyone here and lumping me in with your problems. My 570 has NEVER given me ANY problems, has played EVERY BD I have wanted to see and is still worth every penny I spent. You want to prove your point? Vote with your dollars and never buy a LG product again (like that will happen) as long as you live. That'll teach 'em not to screw with your hard earned money...Oh yes, and I have some swamp land for sale.

My 'The Proposition - Special Edition' also didn't work when I had the 2010 model. I complained about both that, and 'The Rock' - but only 'The Rock' was fixed. I need to take this disc over to someone with a PS3 and see if it's the disc or not. It starts freezing around the middle of chapter 4 - and chapters 5 and 6 are totally unplayable. The reason I thought it was the firmware and not the disc was because it starts freezing in slightly different spots in chapter 4. Whenever I've had bad DVDs, they always skipped in the same exact spot. This one freezes in a slightly different spot, then has the following two chapters not play at all. Chapter 6 plays perfectly.

thx1138, thanks for your input. I know that the disc art is different, so I'm not entirely sure if the discs are the same. The first trailer on the disc is for 'War, Inc.' Is that the same for you?
