Not sure what you mean by auto shut down, but I had a problem with my LG players throwing errors seemingly randomly, when trying to play videos via DLNA. Each time, I would have to navigate back to the media I wanted to play from the main menu. I use Serviio and the Serviio team noted issues with the way LG players interacted with the server which they could not resolve. After my BD670 started having trouble playing discs, I bought a Sony player and found its DLNA functionality to be rock solid with Serviio. So much so, that I bought a second one to replace my BD570 as well even though the player was generally functioning.

Literally I pick dlna from the menu and boom, the power just shuts off; Otherwise everything else on the player works. Its quite odd. Ive done all resetting etc. its a very odd glitch, yet on the lg forum several people had it happen (of course I notice this years after I bought it).

any fix for the DLNA issue?

Has anyone found a resolution for the DLNA shutdown problem? I have an LG BD590 which works fine with Microsoft's DLNA. But, when I installed Plex Media Server the problems started. As soon as I go to the homelink menu link, the LG BD590 says goodbye and shuts down. If I stop the PMS software on my PC, the LG then returns to normal. I need Plex to support an Amazon Firestick in another room.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

thanks,

Charley

I noticed the same thing. It shuts down with plex running. Only thing that fixes for me is uninstalling it.

A little bit of an old post but.. What format are the files in? Couldn't you just have the BD590 connect to a shared folder where the files are stored and play them that way? i.e. not use Plex... Its how I do it on my BD570...

On my "server PC" I have Plex configured to serve up a Movie Folder to my plex clients on my son's Fire TV Stick, my Fire TV (box) in the bed room, my iPad and Android phone. I also have windows file sharing setup to share that same movie folder to the network. Then SPMC on my Fire TV (box) and my BD570 and BD390 players just directly access that shared folder to play the files without touching Plex.

Is there a problem with latest firmware?

I have an LG bluray player that says that there is an update available and I held off when I saw this.

Well, any day now YouTube (in netcast) will stop working because YouTube is discontinuing their older API. YouTube can only continue to work on this player if there is a firmware update to support that - that's not likely to happen. If you go to YouTube now, the first video listed says that this device is not compatible with the new API - thus it's bye-bye once the old API is shut down (starting April 20th - ending who knows when).

Hello everyone! I have the LG BD570 and because of the recent update of youtube, it stopped working. Is there any way to re-enable youtube? (I saw some posts about downgrading making it work?) Thanks in advance!

Hi guys.
Our bd570 started to randomly power itself off while watching Netflix, so we figured it was finally time for a replacement.

After 4 purchases and returns to two electronic stores, I think I can safely say that 2015 consumer BD players suck.

Even in it's dying state, the bd570 seems to performs as well as any current Sony, Samsung or LG I tried.

Out of desperation I tried updating to the last official firrmware (.370.c) and I hope it doesn't cause more problems that it solves.

I have a couple questions for the bd570 experts here:
Does any one know what firmware 370 changes? I can't find any release notes or comments in this thread.

Assuming that we can keep the 570 alive for a while longer, has there every been a solution to the problem with Netflix randomly not showing bunches of episodes in a series?

Thanks!

ApK

I just recently bought a Pioneer SVX-830-K AVR, and connected it via HDMI to my LG BD550. HDMI in the LG is set to Primary Pass-Thru, the Pioneer is DD+ capable, and is set to AutoSurround. When playing a Netflix original series (House of Cards), I see only Stereo on my Pioneer. I know all Netflix original series are DD+. Any ideas?

Pandora has stopped working

Pandora has always worked very smoothly on my BD570. Lately buffering occurs when I skip a track, this results in the BD570 just turning off on it's own. Even if I don't skip or thumb down a track after about a half hour or so the screen shows buffering and then the BD570 shuts down spontaneously.
This is new behavior after Pandora has worked through all firmware updates just fine.
Has anyone else xperienced this? Is there a solution?

My BD550 is doing the same thing. I did a factory set and it worked fine for maybe 45 minutes and now it's either freezing or shutting down as a track or commercial ends. Pandora seems to be the only app affected. This is extremely annoying. Tried older firmware and same behavior.

And my BD590 is doing the same thing with Pandora, which had worked well until a month ago -- it takes very little in the Pandora app for the whole player to just shut down (change a channel, etc.) My firmware versions are:

MAIN VER: BD.8.31.362.C
SERVO VER: H80602 (H08SAN)

Is there any indication that a different firmware version would work any better?

I see a few posts up that 370.c is the latest firmware. My player has 362.c but when I try not to fetch a new update it says I have the latest. Unless my model isn't affected. Oh well.

Hello, I own a LG BD551 Blu-ray player. I've been trying to upgrade the firmware in it, but it's not going well. I first tried the internet update process by attaching an Ethernet cable. The update downloads, but then never updates forcing my player to time-out and turn itself off after an hour or 2 of trying. I then went to LG's website and worked with LG's support phone number.

They verified that the firmware update for an LG BD550 would be compatible with a BD551. I then downloaded their update and wrote it to the root of my USB drive. According to the instructions you wait for the player to come up and then insert the drive into the USB port. The player at this point will recognize the USB drive and then recognize the file and ask you to update. The drive is recognized, but the file is not. I then attempted to update via OD I burned the same data to the disc and upon reading the disc it only recognizes the info on the disc as "Data". As a tech I'm thoroughly frustrated because I flash firmware all the time.

When I contacted LG's support they just Googled the model BD player and sent me a link from something like us3rdriv3rs.com (address altered) wtf? If I wanted to go to just ANY site and update the FW with whatever is there then what do I need LG for? I expected the file that is on their support page to be the most compatible and also the least probable to contain a virus.

So my question is to those who have successfully updated their players, "How did you succeed?" Also, "What does the file naming convention display as for your usable FW update?"

I have recently noticed that Pandora has started to do some minor but noticeable buffering between skipped tracks on my iPad. This never happened there before. The difference here is that the playback on the iPad never burps and the app never unceremoniously shuts down either itself or the iPad.
My take on this is that something has changed on the Pandora side of things and we are SOL since we are using an obsolete and unsupported device that won't be updated to accommodate the change.
Oh well......

Seems I've had success in fixing this issue on my LG DB570 by removing "Png" from the Plex DLNA setup "DLNA server description Icons: field as was described in post #4 here forums.plex.tv/discussion/90686/plex-server-0-9-8-17-282-crash-my-dlna-player
