Here is my system info with Build Date.

LG BD590

Build Date: February 2010
B.D. 8.31.254C
Servo Ver: H80588 (H08SAN)

Netflix IS NOT Working!!!

So I guess this does not help narrow down the issue.

I have checked for updates throughout the day but there is nothing new out there. Hopefully soon.

LG BD-550
Build Date: January 2010
Main Ver: BD.8.31.254.C
Servo ver: H80588 (H08SAN)

My Netflix works perfectly fine (though it seems the movie occasionally changes from HD to standard midstream-- I think it's an internet connection issue not a player issue though because I've seen it happen on my sister's xbox as well).

I haven't been able to test VUDU yet. When I try to log in I receive a connection error stating that the current account needs to be unprovisioned. I spoke to VUDU about this and they promised me it would be fixed within 24 hours. Apparently my player was either a returned unit or a test unit. I'm almost tempted to return it to Amazon because they sold it to me as "New", however I don't want to risk getting one of the later players that has issues.

I should also note I haven't had any problems with Blu-rays or DVDs.

Hi

I have a general question concerning the use of ir flashers on the 570. Since my remote does not have line of sight with my equipment rack, I use ir flashers that are stuck to the window where the ir eye is on a piece of equipment. Since the front panel flips down when the eject button is pushed, am I going to have an issue as to where i can stick the flasher? I would think that if I stick it on the flip down panel, once the panel is in the down position, it no longer has contact with the remote eye.

You will either have to leave the panel down and stick the emitter to the face of the player. Or stick it to the flip down panel and leave it closed. Going to have to experiment I guess. I am going to be doing the same setup.
What ir flasher system do you use?

My January built 550 w/ updated firmware streams Netflix fine.

It's looking like more recent hardware has the problem.

BTW, it's really obnoxious that the 550 won't play movie files off of a data DVD.

With the configuration described above, with the 802.11n access point (base station) pretty close to the BD390 (30 ft), I saw regular breakups when watching Netflix instant videos. When I ran Internet speed tests on my PC, it always showed 15mbits/sec. When I switched to a hard wired ethernet cable, everything works fine.

I'm surprised that Netflix can't handle hiccups from the wireless network. I wonder if it's some sort of bug with the wireless software. Anyway, I just thought I share this in case other people have similar problems.

With all these reports of the newer players having problems with Netflix, has anyone gotten any official statements from LG tech support on the issue? It seems to be common enough that they would know about it by now.

On a related note, has anyone been able to actually get to the lg website (www.lge.com)? When I try, I just get a security pop-up asking if I want to download a file.

Thanks,

Larry

I had the same problem. I ended up running it to the inside. There is a tiny slot on the bottom right corner of the flip down front panel where the wire can go thru. I did have to find an IR emitter that was not quite as thick as some because the panel would not close all the way. Works perfectly.

My 570 just updated to BD.8.31.259.C. Maybe this new release will help if it is also for the 590.

Interesting, this is a newer update. I will try.

Edit:
BD550 here. I think the update is for all the 500 series. The number you give is the same for my 550.
Did the update and now the little red retrieve bar goes to about 90%, hangs and gives the same error message.

Is this progress or what?

Upgraded my BD570 to the new .259 firmware. Netflix streaming still failing, with a different symptom. When trying to stream the progress bar is now showing progress in red and gets almost to the end, then delays, then fails with same error message as before.

I bought a 550 last weekend and can't get an internet connection. Installed latest update and hard wired straight to my modem bypassing my router. The unit says it is connected but when I try to go to any of the Netcast services I always get a not connected to the internet message. Any ideas ?
Unfortunately I bought it 350 miles away and left my proof of purchase receipt in the motel trash!! Great big OOPS.

Anyone have any good IP/DNS settings for VuDu (for when setting up a fresh WiFi setting)? I can't get HDX from VuDu on WiFi, but when directly connected it runs fine.

I went to setup and did the INITIALIZE. (after doing the .259 upgrade) Netflix works now.

You will have to reinitialize Netflix etc but my now works great.

I guess it is great. Does Netflix not stream Dolby Digital? I went to audio setup and set it to pass-through.

Edit: Just answered my own question. I see where they hope to stream 5.1 in the near future.

I have had the same netflix streaming problem that has been listed here, and I was able to fix it tonight.

Here's the solution:
1. Update to latest firmware.
2. Initialize player

You will lose all your setting for netflix and vudu; therefore, you will have to reactivate all your accounts. But this worked!

Can any other 590 users who had the netflix problem before confirm this solution worked with the new .259 firmware?

My 590 worked with all the firmware updates.
So I decided to initalize for the heck of it. Now I have gotten 2 bd to hang on me. Coraline hung right on the one second mark. War of the worlds hung in the begining loading screen. I had to stop play start again to get it to work. Can someone verify this with there 590 to see if that is an issue. Is I possible to reinstall an older firmware? I am on 259 and would like to go back to 254 or 211.

I posted a few days ago about not being able to connect to Netflix with our new 550. I have the unit in our living room and it is hardwired through the wall to my router in the next room (20 feet). Today I took it to the room with the router and hooked it up to our extra TV and it works perfectly. All online features work like they should. Then I took it back and hooked it up again in our main room. No go . It says it can connect to my local network but not the Internet. I can unplug the ethernet cable from the 550 and then plug it into my Roku Netflix box or DTV receiver and have it work but not with the 550. Any ideas would help.

I've called LG and haven't gotten very good response (they keep reading their script to me, and say that no one else has had this issue).

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any ideas on how to fix?

I too have this issue, I have the BD570 and 42LE5400. Exchanged mine also and get same problems. I had called LG and first time they said I need to have it set to 1080p/24. Next time I called and they said it should be set to 1080p/60.
