Listen to this guy he speaks the truth.

I doubted that a standalone could better my PS3, after all it's digital in digital out, but in normal 2D mode the BDT300 is a noticeably better picture.

Going to place a call to Panasonic today about audio dropouts. Watched Iron Man 2 last night on my BDT-300 and had 15 audio dropouts. Firmware should resolve this issue.

Are you sure it's the Panny and not the movie? This happens to me but only on certain movies and they're rented so I haven't been able to test them twice. If it happened on one of my purchased movies, I would replace the movie. It happened several times last night while I was watching "The Wolfman".

I'm coming from an Oppo BDP-83. Never had audio dropouts bitstreaming to my Denon AVR-3808CI. Repo Men rental had 20 dropouts. I purchased Iron Man 2 single disc edition. This definitly sounds like firmware related issues. As other posters said, they are not repeatable in same scene.

Called Panasonic and received a case number but nothing else. Customer service leaves alot to be desired. I just updated the firmware on my Denon 3808CI and changed HDMI cables. We'll see. Otherwise I might put the my Oppo BDP-83 back in the system and return my BDT-300.

Are those of you with audio dropouts using the secondary or main HDMI? I am using the main HDMI and no issues.

No issues for me and I'm using the secondary HDMI to the receiver for audio.

I experience the same audio dropouts with my BDT100 (firmware 1.4), especially with Prince of Persia (which works perfectly fine on ps3). I also had a few dropouts with Princess Frog (so...An issue with Disney blurays?)... tested "Home" for 1 hour : no issue whatsoever.
One thing's sure : you can hear the drive "rewinding" if you pay attention during a dropout.

I'm using secondary HDMI. I updated my Denon 3808CI to newest firmware. I also changed my HDMI cable from the secondary output. I watched District 9 yesterday which has a DTS-MA HD track and had no dropouts.

It's been awhile, but I can't recall any audio dropouts with that movie, or any other that I've played on this machine.

I watched Iron Man 2 as well last night and also got plenty of drop outs. Never experience so many drop outs on my PS3, I am also using HDMI port 2 for the audio going to my Denon 3808. I am running Firmware update 1.51 on my BDT-350 as well.

I will try watching it on my PS3 to verify if it is a hardware or disk problem. I only wish the movie itself wasn't so disappointing, it will be painful to see it again.

Hi,

I have a BDT350 plugged into a Pioner SC-07 (second output) and on a Panasonic 65VT25 (main output). I bought Iron Man 2 BD a few days ago and also noticed frequent 10 to 15 seconds audio dropouts when bitestreaming/French audio track in certain parts of the movie... If I watch the movie from the beginning dropouts occur at the same points in time. If I rewind to re-watch a segment that just had a dropout audio plays fine but dropouts come back after while later in the movie. I didn't try to use PCM on the BDT350. My (old) PS3 has no dropout issue using PCM with Iron Man 2... I'll try reengaging video on the second output and will also try using only the main output... Finally I'll try to exchange the movie and see if it changes anything.

I just tested with BDT350 set to PCM, same issue: audio drops out at the same points in the movie. To get the same dropouts at the same points I have to play the whole movie. If I skip directly to the faulty scene, I have no dropout...

Didn't they tell ya? It's only the French tracks that screw up. If you listen in the proper King's English everything will be fine. An end to hunger & poverty, world peace! g/k

I hope the 350 that should be delivered this week doesn't do that. I really wanted to sell the PS3 and recoup some cash. 'Eh?

Most folks seem to wanna blame the disc?

Same here with my BDT-350.. Audio drop outs with Iron man 2 blu ray.. It drove me crazy all night.. I hope they adress this issue in the next firmware.. The latest 1.51 didn't help at all.

I tested using main HDMI out only on the BDT350 and audio dropouts still occur.

I'll try to get another Iron Man 2 blu-ray disk tomorrow just to see if it changes something...

IMO..... It's the player for sure, and not the disc.. I only say this because if it was the disc reports and complaints would be popping up all over these boards. So far it is only this specific line of panasonic players that are effected.

Actually, there are reported issues in the LG BD390/370 thread as well. Most are reporting freezing and one poster mentioned sound dropouts. One poster reported that LG was aware of this issue and hopefully will work on it.

So who knows, there could be something flakey with this title, maybe a bad batch??? I haven't gotten Ironman yet but when I do, I'll see what happens.

My BDP-05FD, still going strong and still my favorite player!

I agree and just registered my complaint with Panasonic. I also included links to this site to try and shame them into a response. Will let everyone know what their response is when I receive it.

For those that don't know, this player has another thread in 3D Source Components. There's been a lot of talk lately about audio dropouts in some newly released movies, like Ironman 2 and Robin Hood. I have no idea why new movies would have a problem, it's not like some out-of-spec Java is getting in the way.

For the record, my player has had no problem at all with these, running 1.51. I bought it about 2 months ago from BB/MHT. It was either a return or a demo unit.

I just recently purchased the BDT300 to replace my buggy Samsung BDC6900 player that didn't work properly on my Onkyo TX-SR508 receiver.

My specs are as follows:
Panasonic BDT300 with 1.51 firmware upgrade.
Samsung UN55C8000 55-Inch 3D LED TV
Onkyo TX-SR508

I am using a 1.4 hdmi cable that plugs in from the main outlet of my blu-ray to the receiver. I have a second 1.4 cable from the receiver to the tv. I have not yet tried the secondary hdmi outlet.

After viewing 5 blu-ray movies, several regular dvds, and several online netflix movies, all problems with dropouts seem to be associated with DTS-HD Master.

Of the five blu-rays, I have watched:

Batman Begins - uses Dolby True HD - no dropout!
Dark Knight - uses Dolby True HD - no dropout!
Kingdom of Heaven - DTS-HD Master - had about a dozen dropouts
Repo-Men - DTS-HD Master - had far too many dropouts
Iron Man 2 - DTS-HD Master - had about a dozen

Regular dvds played their usual dolby digital or DTS tracks, none of which had problems. Netflix movies were run using Dolby Pro Logic II or DTS Neo: 6 with no issues.

I need to view more Dolby-True HD movies to make sure that the batman movies were lucky special cases. I will re-watch some of my other blu-rays with dolby true-hd tracks to confirm that no dropouts occur.

So far, this clearly seems to be a player issue utilizing DTS-HD Master and not a disc issue. This also does not see to be an issue with new blu-ray discs either especially since Kingdom of Heaven (which has been out on blu-ray for a while) has had audio dropout issues too.

I rented "Repo Men" and seem to remember some dropouts. The last movie that I watched that had quite a lot of dropouts was "The Wolfman". I watched "Hannibal" last night which is DTS HD Master and had no dropouts. The dropouts don't seem to have any consistency.

Unfortunately, I just ran a movie that utilizes dolby true-hd and found 2 dropout cases. So it seems like my hypothesis on DTS-HD being the culprit is false.

Has anyone tried separating sound and video apart with the spare hdmi outlet on the bdt300/350s?

I'm also wondering if perhaps the network device is causing trouble. If you've ever had experience with troubleshooting PCs, sometimes an audio card will conflict with the network card when the network does it's periodic handshakes with other networks. Usually this is from the result of a bad drive from either one of the two.
