Can anyone direct me to a link where I can directly download and update my software for my BDP-1611UD Denon player. I prefer to download the file on a USB and then upload it. Will this option work best.? Thanks.

I have had the DBP-1611UD for a little over two years and have not used it to its full potential. However last week the ON/STANDBY button started blinking when I turned it on from the remote with nothing showing on the display panel of the unit nor on the menu while viewing it via the TV. I switched the power off and removed the plug  and left it overnight but the same thing happened the next morning. Would appreciate it if anyone on this forum has had a similar issue and how they resolved it. As I am unable to get into the menu given there is no display how else can I reset it to the factory settings.

Thanks

Make sure the pure direct is off. Keep pressing the pure direct button until it says pure direct off.

Thanks for your response - As there is no display on the front panel I cannot see if Pure Direct is off and there is no menu display on the TV. I just tried turning it on again kept pressing the Pure direct and nothing happens.

Oh too bad it looks like you'll need to have player serviced. I was hoping that because the display was off that the pure direct was engaged.

Denon DBP-1611UD Skipping/Freezing

Hello all,

My 1611UD just started freezing/skipping randomly. Is this a known issue? I tried checking the owners thread and I couldn't find much about it.

I understand the player is around 4-5 years old at this point, but is there a firmware update that fixes this?

Any help would be great. Thank you.

Hi. New to the forum. Still searching the vast amount of info to find all my products.
Anyway I've had my 1611 for a little while now and have had a few questions about it.
It's loud. It doesn't connect to the internet.

Also what settings should be used to get the most out of it. Like, to let my reciever do the sound processing, or is it better letting the player do it?
Any advice with it or tips and tricks. I scanned the forum but didn't see much

I would probably let your receiver handle it, that's how I have mine set up and it works well. Download the firmware update for it, it's a little slow to load initially but the firmware helps things speed up.

Any way to update it other than being online? It can never seem to connect

Hm not sure about that, it has a USB, maybe there is a way to download it to a flash drive and install that way?

Maybe try plugging it directly into the modem and seeing if it will connect that way?

If not, give Denon a call and they might be able to help you out.

Denon DBP-1611UD no disc

My Denon DBP-1611UD will no longer read any disc. This blu-ray player has been a bit annoying from the start. It is slow to start/shutdown. Slow to load. Earlier this year it stopped playing homemade discs. And now it won't play any disc (DVD, blu-ray, CD).
Does anyone have experience with this model and this issue?
What would it cost to fix this? Not that I am certain it is worth it.
Regards,
Paul

Have you updated the firmware? If that doesn't fix the issue then I don't know that it will be worth fixing as it is likely out of warranty.

Thank you for the reply. In the past couple years I have not seen a new update. I believe I last checked earlier this year.

If I can't get it to turn on, is it worth sending in to be fixed or should I just movemailed on? I know technology has moved on

The troubleshooting section of the Manual says:

"Power does not turn on: The safety protection decive may be activated. Unplug the power cord once, and wait for 5-10 seconds and then plug it in again".

Try this and report back please.

It turned on. But every couple of seconds the screen would go fuzzy and blank. Then it would come back on

Glad to hear the unit finally turned on. The screen problem could be some HDMI handshake issue, dunno. Just make sure the HDMI cable is fit tightly at the BD player side and at the AVR side as well. Also you may press the "Resolution" button on the front panel and press it again until the display shows "Source Direct". Leave it like that.

You may also disconnect the power cable and leave it like that overnight and re-connect tomorrow. Let's see.

Thank you. I'm happy as well. I'll check the cables tomorrow and the source direct.
