Note the new ABT2015 Video Processor used in the BDP-2011UDCI has a few improvements over the older ABT2010 Video Processor also. They now say their MPEG noise reduction and picture enhancement improve even high-definition images.

jd,

Where did you read or where was it published that these features are enabled in the 2011? I may have missed it.

There is no difference in performance between 2010/2015. Just adds keystone correction, 12 bit processing, and XVYCC support. Their MPEG NR and Picture Enhancement already works with HD, and it works VERY well with 1080i cable

Has any Denon in the less than a 3xxx series (Amp/Receiver or Player) ever had it? Why would people expect at 2xxx series to have it?

Isn't it time someone promoted quality as value?

The 2930ci has it. Is there a higher model than the 2011 expected?
I won't be buying a Denon universal without it.

rnrgagne,

The 2930CI has Denon Link 3. What is the difference between Denon Link 3 and Link 4? Not that I would factor this into a future buying decision.

I'm not 100% sure but I think DL4 has the ability to clock the new hi-rez codecs?
The level of DL doesn't matter to me as much as the ability to have it for CD & SACD playback on my Denon AVP, it's an excellent digital transfer for music. To me those formats sound better with DL3 than over HDMI, although having said that, I can't find any fault with BD music using the new hi-rez codecs over HDMI.

I have two players so I can have both BD & DL and would love to have one player do it all but I'm not going to spend over $1k to do that.

My "perfect" player would be a BD/universal transport only with DL4 & Dual HDMI outs. I have no need for an analog section in my player.

The ABT2010 uses only mosquito noise reduction and doesn't employ either random noise reduction or temporal noise reduction. The ABT2015 also offers general noise reduction, which I have not seen enough info on, to say performance wise they are on par.

I hope denon includes a subtiltle shift feature on the bdp-2011! That would save me from buying an oppo 80/83 only for the need of that feature. For us that has a denon reciever and processor it certainly would look better with all denon stuff in the AV-shelf. No oppo or philips involved If philips and oppo can do it, I sure think denon can. I bet they would sell 20% extra of this model if they include it, as there will be more and more CIH users in the future.

The ABT 2010 also employs general noise reduction, and it does so by min-using detail enhancement while upping edge enhancement. Its literally the same chip performance wise, with keystoning capability and 12bit/xvycc support. Its the same scaling engine, same deinterlacing engine, same everything

I know this is a stupid question but I am going to ask anyway. If you have a 3D Bluray player do you need to have a 3D TV too?

Only if you want to watch 3D. My 350 is running to a Mitsubishi right now while I wait for my plasma. Works fine.

That is what I expected to hear but thank you for letting me know 100% of sure. We just bought a new TV without 3D and now I am wondering if I should return it for 3D once I buy the DBP2011.

I believe you'll also need HDMI 1.4 cables for full 3D HD resolution (so, new TV, new BD player, and new cables). I assume you'll also need to connect directly from the player to the display, or get new AV equipment!

No such thing as version number cables anymore. Cables are now rated by features. Any CL2 cable is capable of carrying full 3D. So that same 1.3 cable bought from monoprice will work with 3D.

It looks contradictory, there's no Denon Link under the connections, it's just listed under features. The article says it's based on the DBP 2010 which doesn't have DL4.

When did the previous model Denon's get the ABT2010?? Wasn't it the ABT1030?

First post in the Denon 2010 thread says - "Anchor Bay ABT1030 upscaler for superior DVD video upconversion"

People really need to get that right. The ABT2010 is a high end chip found in video processor, high end AVR's and a couple high end Blu-ray players.

The DBP-1610 & DBP-2010 have the Anchor Bay ABT1030 and the DBP-4010UDCI has the ABT2010 chip.

The new DBP-2011 will supposedly have the ABT-2015 chip.

I am going buy one of these 2 players and I have a question. I am going to be upgrading my amp this year from the 4308CI to the 4311CI and wanted to know given my amp purchase is it a better idea to step up to the more expensive player or down because I am going to be using the amp to process the signal. I want to purchase the DBP-1611 but not if there is a good reason for me to step up to the 2011. Please help.

Key features of the Denon DBP-1611UD:

* Universal disc player (Blu-ray, DVD-Audio, SACD, DVD, CD)
* 3D Blu-ray compatible via a firmware update coming in the fall
* Netflix and YouTube streaming
* 1GB onboard memory
* $400 list price; available in June

Key step-up features of the Denon DBP-2011UDCI:

* Anchor Bay video processing (ABT2015 chip)
* 7.1-analog outputs
* RS-232 port; IR inputs/outputs
* $800 list price; available in August

I saw this unit, impressed with the seperate audio/video internals, I'm wondering if this unit has netflix/pandora and the ability to be DLNA certified, so I can view videos on my mediasmart server as well.

Does anyone know?

Both models are listed as DLNA certified, and supporting Netflix/Youtube. Not Pandora that I have seen.

Rats! Seriously this is a joke. You buy one and it does all but a few things, you find another and it's the exact opposite... arrrgh. I have a s470 that did all but DLNA and I want the PC out of my livingroom now.

I wish some of these were open source, I'd roll my own interface and add what I needed.

Has anyone been able to use the DLNA portion, ie: watch a video from a mediasmart server across their network?

I think your line of thought makes sense - with the 4311ci as a front end all you'll really need is a transport. Certainly no need for analog output.
