It sounds like they are really busting their butts over there to get these things out and make good on as many as humanly possible. And to me....that's all you can ask for.

+1

Im happy to wait what appears to be a VERY reasonable amount of time considering the enormous demand for this unit from the start. Good things come to those who wait, and it appears from ALL outward signs that Oppo is doing everything they can to expedite each and every one. Ordered mine on thursday, regular delivery, middle of the day, no special instructions.... I get mine on Friday. Happy Thanksgiving to me!!!! Kudos to Oppo!!

AVI is supported over DLNA on the BDP-93. It was absent from the BDP-8x series for some reason. OPPO was looking into fixing this in a future firmware release, but I do not know if there is any traction for this fix.

For people who have the BDP-93 in hand, please start using the BDP-93 Owner's Thread , particularly if you start talking about performance observations.

If I understood this correctly, then if you have a Blu-ray source with 6.1 channel DTS-HD MA with DTS-ES core then it would end up being decoded as 5.1 channel currently if we dont bitstream to the receiver.

Is it at all possible to apply edge enhancement to dvd only? Or if you apply edge enhancement will it be used for blue ray as well and need to be turned off manually?

If pre-release order links are 'transferable', I have one available that is good until tomorrow (received Nov 18) -- pm me. (I decided to wait until the 93 is available through Canadian resellers -- the 83 is more than good for now.)

It has to be turned on and off manually. There is no way to set the player to set these settings on a per source basis.

It will be applied to both. However there are several memories for such settings so it is fairly easy to do the manual switch between your preferred set of settings for Blu-Ray playback and for SD-DVD playback. The change can be made while the disc is playing for example, in case you forget to do it before starting the new disc.

So far, with the exception of Noise Reduction, I've not felt the need to apply any such modifications either for Blu-Ray or for SD-DVD.

Essentials seems to require the use of an AVR for some specific features, whereas the original is self supportive in all aspects.

Yes, all the Blu-Ray DTS audio versions are there but the DTS-ES and I think DTS 96/24 is missing. I don't know why they would do that other than maybe some audio processing chips were running out of room.

More likely just DTS' license marketing. It gives the AVRs something to boast about so that people feel less annoyed at having to pay for a decoder both in the player and in the AVR.

Mine shipped today, and I'll have it on Wednesday. This is my first oppo, so it will be interesting to see how it compares to my old Sony 1000ES.

I know that oppo does not support iso, is it clear that it will play m2ts files? Is it possible to convert blu ray iso files to m2ts without video or audio(tru hd) loss and play this m2ts on the new oppo 93
