Similarly, this Netflix app can only do stereo audio.

The 93 can obviously do better as evidenced by its VUDU app.

Complaints to Netflix please.

I eventually bought a Roku 3 to handle all my streaming needs. My TV has a better Netflix app, I liked the Oppo's DLNA app better. The Roku seems to be pretty good at everything I care about. I also stream from Amazon Prime, watch YouTube videos, and listen to podcasts from iTunes.

New to the forum, but a lurker. I've had a BDP-93 and really enjoy it, but the last week, I'm not being able to play 20th Century Fox Blu-ray movies. I just purchased the John Wayne Collection which has 7 movies, and non of them play. I'll insert the disc, I get a rotation graphic, then a hiccup in the graphic, and the entire player freezes. I have to hold the power switch for about 20secs to turn it off, then to eject the disc as it won't eject or do anything after freezing.

Other movies that don't play are I, Robot, Passion Of The Christ (DE) (The included DVD DOES PLAY however), the entire Alien Quad set of movies.

Any help appreciated. I've tried resetting to factory defaults, even reinstalling the latest firmware, but didn't help. Cleared persistent storage as well. Also turned off/on BD Live.

I remember having an issue with the drive after the first year of owning the 93 player. I was able to send it and get it fixed. Its been working like a champ ever since.
I think you should send Oppo an email and see if they can help you.

^ Turn off networking altogether. Also Erase Persistent Storage again. If that fixes it, there are other things to check. If not, then your 93 may need service. Call OPPO Tech Support.

The firmware comes in several pieces. Look at the OPPO Support Page for the player, and compare the Main, Loader, and Sub/MCU version numbers shown there for the latest firmware against what the player shows in Setup > Device Setup > Firmware Information. If you are missing an update, OPPO Tech Support can explain how to get it.

Release date: October 27, 2014
Category: Latest Official Release
Main Version: BDP9x-82-1009
Loader Version: CN1000
Sub Version: MCU93-09-0218 (BDP-93), MCU95-08-0218 (BDP-95)

1. Resolved a disc loading issue with several Blu-ray movies released by Touchstone Home Entertainment. Customers reported that after loading the disc, the player would stopped even froze at the time point "2:00:00". Sample titles include "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" and "The Tempest".

2. Resolved a subtitle display issue with several Blu-ray movies released by Shout! Factory studio. Customers reported that the subtitle would quickly dissappear, even completely undisplay at multiple time points. Sample titles include "The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec Director's Cut" and "Prince of Darkness".

Neuromancer's Note:
This will not fix all subtitle issues where there are multiple subtitles which will appear in staggered intervals simultaneously. In particular, if you watch anime Blu-rays, you will likely still see errors with the subtitles not being rendered properly. This firmware should fix the majority of these issues appearing, but is not a complete fix yet.

3. Resolved an audio dropout issue with the SACD playback. Customers reported that if an SACD was loaded after the player was turned on, a brief audio dropout could be heard after ~2 seconds into the first track. This only happened on the first track on the first SACD disc.

Very, very pleased that this has been fixed. The SACD dropout issue has bugged me as long as I've owned the player. The first SACD I popped in after doing the firmware update - no problem!

Has anyone tried/have experience with using the Amazon Fire TV Stick with the BDP-93? I noticed that it's on sale (to prime members) right now and was wondering if it works with this player?

Hmm, I just now noticed that this thing is pre-order. Guess it's unlikely anyone has tried it yet then.

^ It can't possibly work in the 93. The 93 has no HDMI Inputs.

Try it on an OPPO 10x player and you should be fine. Expect you will need to power it from its wall AC adapter, rather than drawing power from a USB socket on the 10x player.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. I was asking for the person I gave my 93 to (I upgraded sometime ago), I thought I'd ask here. Guess I should have checked the online manual.
