So does anyone know a way to play FLACs gaplessly on the. 95? I'm using JRiver MC and navigating via the Oppo over the LAN.

Ok, glad that works.

I remember you said that changing cables did not help. Is this a very long cable run?

Goodmorning,

Since today I am a new member.
Do not know yet how to post a new thread in the Oppo BDP-95EU thread, so I will try it here..

I have some files in Ultra HD with extension mp4 on a usb stick, but the Oppo does not play these.
Left upper corner I see a green triangle (play) and the normal Oppo logo on the screen.
However, a mp4 file on a extern hdd is playing correctly.
What could be the problem please?
Thanks in advance.

^ First, welcome to AVS and to this thread. This is the correct thread to post in as the EU and US players operate the same way.

None of the OPPO players can play content which is already 4K resolution.

The 10x OPPO players can *UPSCALE* lower resolution content to 4K output resolution.

Thank you Bob,

I do not understand.
One mp4 file, put into a map on my extern hdd, the Oppo plays it extremely good.
Now I did put the other mp4 files, from the usb stick, into the same map and the Oppo freezes.
Strange..
There is no software update possible to play 4k files?

^ Many companies are selling video as *MASTERED* in 4K, but the actual video file itself is only 1080p.

You can even buy commercial Blu-ray discs that have Ultra HD 4K labels plastered all over them, but are still -- as with all Blu-ray discs -- only 1080p on the disc itself. The joys of marketing.

If you have a file that plays from a hard drive directly attached to one of the USB ports on the 95, but does not play when you use a USB stick in the same port, then it is possible your USB stick is not partitioned or formatted properly. In some case, that will only be a problem if the file is very large. See the FAQ (link available at the top of the first post in the BDP-93 thread) for information on supported partition methods and format styles.

OK Bob,

Now I have some 24 bit vinyl files as well. Oppo does not play them too.
I did pay a lot of money ( € 1300,-) for this player, combined with the terrible noise of the cooling fan ,it is a real disaster..
(if somebody will hear the noise I can add a file)
The player went back to UK, but still has the same noise unfortunately.
When the Oppo does not play 24 bit vinyl files at all, how can I convert these files into the highest quality files that plays the Oppo please?

You're going to need to be a lot more specific as to exactly what files you have for us to give you a definitive answer - I'm not going to go doing random searches to try to find the file you downloaded. There's a tool called MKVInfo that you might be able to use to provide specifics on what's in these files. But the Oppo players do not support playback of media that is encoded at a resolution higher than 1920x1080. If you have some that somehow work, consider yourself lucky as it's not a supported feature.

Again, you're going to need to be more specific as I have no idea what a 24 bit vinyl file is. Can you provide a sample file?

theazeef,
The FAQ I mentioned also includes info on supported file formats for the 93 and 95. Note that some file formats are actually "containers", which means whether they are supported or not depends on the audio or video CONTENT format you happen to have inside the container.

For example:
The Moody Blues‎– Days Of Future Passed {Original US} A90VPS, vinyl 24-96

When I have a look in those map listing, it gives .flac
So, why does the Oppo no plays .flac?
Thanks a lot indeed in advance from Portugal.

^ If you read that FAQ I've cited above, you'll find FLAC is supported on the 93 and 95 when not in an MKV container. FLAC 96KHz 24-bit is supported.

You can used the MediaInfo utility, which has been discussed many times in this thread to list out the details of the file(s) you are trying to play. Evidently there is something unusual about the FLAC you are trying to use from that Torrent download.

^ By the way, which firmware version do you have installed in your 95EU? Check Setup > Device Setup > Firmware Information for the "Main" firmware version number.

If your firmware is very old, then you may be missing bug fixes applicable to FLAC file playback. Changes introduced for each firmware version are listed in the first post of the BDP-93 thread here.

Again, you're not giving us enough info to work with. Perhaps your best bet would be to contact Oppo for assistance. They may ask you to provide them with sample files so they can determine what the issue may be.

^ mp4 is a *CONTAINER*. As I mentioned above, when it comes to playing a container file you need to make sure the audio and video formats embedded inside the container are supported.

Once again, the MediaInfo utility will enable you to check the details of what you've got in your media files.

Ola Bob,

I did try to download the MediaInfo Utility, but without any success unfortunately.

Using the MediaInfo program is more simple than I thought.
One huge problem left: the noise of the cooling fan.
I can add the noise in a file to hear it for all Oppo users.
To me it is not acceptable. The Oppo went back from UK but came back with still the same problems.
Can hear the fan loud and clear on 10 meters distance.
Is it possible to change the fan for another type of fan, more silent??

^ Not easily.

The 10x family of players have no fan if you feel like selling the 95 and upgrading.

The fan in the 95 is variable speed, so check whether your 95 is reasonably ventilated -- not stuck in an enclosed space or placed near a heat source -- to minimize its fan use.

Hearing the fan or not often comes down to the resonances of the place you have it installed. Shifting the player a couple inches or putting it on a different surface can dramatically change the resonances.

Ola Bob,

I cannot understand that a high -end player causes such a terrible noise.
Especially when the music is playing softly, it is not normal at all.
Even a low priced player of € 40,- is not hearable.
I did try everything Bob, the player is placed on a special glass table, no resonance at all.
Always the same sound even when I keep the Oppo in my hands.

Lots of people here use the 95 despite the fan, of course. But if you are sensitive to fan noise your best bet will likely be to change to a player without a fan like the 105 or 105D. By the way, both of those also handle more media file formats than the 95.

I have an issue with subtitles that occur sometimes, rarely, but still. I remember seeing a post, maybe not on this forum, about the same problem but I cant seem to find it now.

The issue is with subtitles not displaying for the right period of time, or not displaying at all. They flash by and disappears in an instant. This is not with .mkv files but with real untouched BDMW folders. Turning them off and then on again doesnt help. This happened a few times in the past month or so, just thought I would check if it's something known..

This is when playing via a USB harddrive connected to the front USB port. I did not troubleshoot anything further yet. I do not think this ever happened with a BD disc, but I am not one hundred percent sure.
