Again, Netflix sends out a signal they don't process the signal.

I can't speak to "other brands" other than the LG BD570 on which Netflix played without a single drop out or "black out", ever.
NF tests the devices to meet certification . If it doesn't pass, it goes back to the manufacturer. Same thing Oppo is going through right now with VUDU and NF before they get the newer interface.

So it's Netflix problem/fault that Panasonic didn't have the device certified and sold them before Netflix tested and certified that they worked properly with their service?

You don't know that it wasn't. You're taking the word from someone that talked to/received an e-mail from a first level CSR? My calls are not into first level techs. Providers just don't hand over their interfaces. There's a process that everyone follows whether it's Panasonic, Oppo, Denon, Samsung, LG, Pioneer, etc. Equipment goes into the service. The service tests it. If it doesn't meet ceretification, the player goes back to the manufacturer. The manufacturer fixes the problem that caused it to fail and resubmits it. If the service says it meets their certification, then the interface is released. I have seen the flashing black screen with other manufacturers and seen it rectified without the manufacturer issueing an update.

I'm not saying it's not a Panasonic issue, I'm just not willing to simply blame them without facts.

I just switched to the DMP-BDPT110 from a Samsung 1600 something or other.
Light years of improvements.

I have a question reguarding the weather feature. The time is incorrect. Is there a way to set the time. It seems to only show time for the Eastern Time zone no matter what city you have set for getting the weather.

I don't believe that is true. On the Oppo threads, they claim that Netflix uses different software for different manufacturers, based on their licenses/contracts, and provides better quality streaming for the PS3 (and supposedly for these new Pannys) than for Oppo and some other brands.

Got my DMP-BDT110 yesterday. Plugged it into my Sony STR-DE845 via toslink and it reset the receiver to PROTECT mode. Now all I can do is hear sound from my sub... I'm gonna check connections tonite, yet I'm unsure why this happened.
Up til the receiver got reset to PROTECT mode, I was having fun watching Vudu previews in 1080p... Very nice.

Three questions so far that I didn't see answered:
1. How do I use my iPhone to control the DVD player?
2. What are the optimal settings (video and other) for this DVD player?
3. How do I repeat a DVD disc indefinitely? I set it to repeat title yet on my last Yamaha it had a setting to repeat disk (using for Plasma TV break-in)...

I have a Panasonic TC-P50GT25 connected to the DMP-BDT110 if it matters.

Thanks!

I got the 110 today and it will convert 2d to 3d with checkerboard format mits tvs if its run through the adapter. The 3d is barely there tho I played sin city and blade runner so eh. Plus Vudu dont have any 3d movies available for this model either I guess. Even the adjustable 3d you can do dont make it any better than my sony so back to the store it goes I guess.

That would be pretty hard to prove at this point considering even the image on Netflix when it isn't blacking out looks like crap compared to the LG BD570

I really like the Netflix layout in this player. My previous samsung only showed what was in the instant que. this one lets me browse the entire instant view library. The video quality during playback is also much improved. The Audio is 2.0 stereo, Wasn't aware that Netflix even offered 5.1 audio.

I didn't see a lot of titles with 5.1 but I did notice that Lost Season 5 was in 5.1 and I believe it also lit up the Dolby True HD indicator on my receiver. I know something via Netflix did

5.1 is not available on every movie. When it is the first screen for that movie gives the audio/language option. The screen where you choose to play or add to your instant que.

You have to manually select 5.1 on every movie when there is 5.1 available. 2.0 is the default option. There is a little "5.1" icon up top next to the "HD" icon if 5.1 is available. IMO there should at least be a little pop-up asking if you want to view w/ 2.0 or 5.1.

I also am very impressed with the quality of the Netflix stream. I watched Shutter Island in standard definition, and was very impressed with the quality actually. I have also experienced the split second flashing of a black screen watching Netflix content, but maybe only once or twice an hour. Its not all that distracting, but if it happened more often I think it could be. I am connected through LAN and not wireless. It doesn't seem like the standard HDMI handshake issues (which, as I stated in my OP, I also occasionally have a problem with).

The differences are in the version. The Oppo does not have the newer interface like the PS3 and Panny, because it's still going thru certification. While I dont absolve Panny, folks need to realize Nflix has to certify these players, and Nflix takes control of the player when connected to their server. Id put most of the ownership of making things work right on them. This is the first gen where the Uniphier scales Nflix streams, so there could be a bug there too.

Is this something likely to get fixed, either by Netflix or thru a firmware update from Panny? I haven't opened my 110 box yet and could easily return it (I'm just waiting for my monoprice 20' Cat5e cable).

Seems some have it and some dont, so other factors. There are differences among HSI providers, as well as devices in the chain. Panny is very good about fixing problems they can. If anything open it up and try it, and if it does not work the way you want, return it.

I had Netflix blinking a good dozen times during the first movie I watched. Are users reporting the issue... I hit Netflix and will try Panasonic as well. I'm wired and it doesn't appear to a streaming issue per se. I'm guessing a decoding issue.

Just watched the last 30 minutes of the same title and didn't have another blink. Weird. Mine was 5.1 and based on the bandwidth reports it doesn't appears to do 1080p.

I've only watched 3 NF movies but no blinking yet. My connection was 2.4G N for the first 2 and 5G N for the last one. Nominal 15 down cable connection.

For what it's worth I've watched a bunch of NF movies and TV via my Logitech Revue which has the same app as the 110/210/310 and never had a problem. I realize the same app on different equipment can behave differently but though I'd mention that anyway.

Seems like the PS3 had a similar issue with the new interface. Is anyone seeing a pattern or is it happening with everything? So far I have only seen it twice now on titles that are 1080p with the DD+ 5.1 audio.

I'd be interested to hear when folks start to receive their Avatar 3D discs. My 3D JVC projector should be installed in the next few weeks and I'm hoping the disc will arrive quickly. I mailed my rebate form on 3/5 and will report back once the disc arrives

Nope that is not correct, I just got BDT210 and my out of the box BDT210 (with initial firmware) connected to a linksys 4200 router - "perfect" at "wireless N with WPA2 active once I enabled it. The firmware update (via wireless) was super easy no issues at all

I missed this post. Thanks for the reply. I do like the TV yet my receiver took a dump so I've been focusing on that. Still breaking in the TV too. I havent found a way to replay an entire disk for an unlimited period of time... Woo?

Plugged Panasonic 110 straight to JVC projector instead of AVR and the 2D to 3D conversion worked. Weird because normal 3D Blu-rays play fine through receiver. I guess I first need to try to update the firmware and then I need to find out if there are settings on the Onkyo receiver to fix this. Time to read through 3300 thread.
