No word from Walkamo here.

Maybe these models will only be available overseas then. Bumber! I don't know that for sure, but it's the only reason I could think of that there has been no word on these new players regarding a North American release.

CEDIA is just around the corner. If there will be a US release of these players I am sure there will be something there.

At the beginning of this thread, someone stated that these players have an Oppo look to them. If the LX55 or its North American equivalent was made by Oppo's company, BBK, then it would be like an Oppo with PQLS, a true winner!

If it comes with dual HDMI output, wi-fi, and Marvell Qdeo K2 and PQLS, it's a must buy for me!

That would be cool! I for one would happy if it was built like my HD1, (which I still use in m y theater). That would be awesome! Sure the HD1 is slow and does not work with a DTS-MA track but it is a rock solid player and a true Pioneer build!

also love the fact that HD1 doesn't require remote because all the controls are duplicated on the player behind a thick metal faceplate.

looking back at post #1, it seems like it has everything I need minus the wi-fi. As long as it's not priced above Oppo 93 (after dongle) and not Sharp-based design, I'll definitely buy this unit.

Ive being hoping Pio would release a BDP with twin-HDMI outs.I dont want to get rid of a yr old AVR just to pass through a 3D signal. Now im happy getting a new TV.My concern was playing 3D films & not being able to hear the DTS MA or TRUE HD sountracks. The HD2D is whats most important, but it would have stuck in the back of my head, not having the original STs,even though converted PCM/DTS & DD are acceptable,if i have a 3D TV,3D bd & i can seperate the soundtrack by sending it to the AVR i dont see the need to buy another one.

Looks like a good player. Unfortunately it looks as if the Urashi finish is gone from looking at the new elite receivers.

No more Urushi finish? That's just dumb of Pioneer in dropping their signature look.

As many of you know, I'm visually impaired, read Braille, and use screan magnification and verbal output. Are you saying that Pioneer dropped the style to their components in which the front panel was divided in half by a bezel? I'll really miss that!

that's what PR-630HD said. And looking at the LX-55 BD player, that seems to be true... unfortunately.

Remember the good old SD days with the Pioneer DV-563A, DV-578A, DV-588A, and possibly the DV-46AV, DV-48AV, and DV-49AV? They were nice players, but I don't believe their front panels were divided in half by bezels. So should we really judge these newer players and receivers by this change in appearance? Just a thought.

of course not, but looking at the rendering (and the photo of Elite VSX-53 receiver), the Elite now look cheap, no better than the non-Elite version with plastic faux brushed aluminium look.

Keep in mind the differences between European and domestic elite models. The pictured LX55 has white or light blue leds. The Elites domestically have the black urushi finish and amber leds. The same is true for the European LX receivers and the SC Elites domestically.

The Canadian / US Elite receivers photos (not rendering) have been shown today in industry magazine. They no longer have urushi finish but plastic faux brush aluminium instead.

Did they have rear panel or remote pictures?

Ok, two things have me worried:

1. USB port is identical to 430 (sharp design)
2. Remote is identical to 430 (sharp design)

I own a DV-58AV and a DV-49AV. Both of these players have their goods and their bads. The DV-58AV is slightly buggy, but it has a soundproof disc mechanism, HDMI 1.3 with HDMI control, and that Elite touch and appearance to the front panel. The DV-49AV, sold as an Elite, does not have that Elite touch and appearance to the front panel, HDMI 1.3 with HDMI control, nor a soundproof disc mechanism, but it's bugfree as far as I've noticed. So if I had to pick between the goods and the evils of the two players, I wouldn't be able to do so because there are things that I like and dislike about both players.

To get back on topic, as long as I like what I see in the PDF, I'll probibly be getting the American version of the BDP-LX55. I'll bet that when these three players are released in America, they will be named as follows: BDP-140, BDP-440, and BDP-53FD. Normally, they'd call the BDP-440 the BDP-51FD over here, but they already gave a player that model number back in 2008.

For posterity's sake, the DV-58AV had HDMI 1.2.

Then maybe those without sight impairment should look for pictures of the BDP-440 and BDP-LX55 and judge those as well. We're almost in August. So maybe we'll at least get to check out the manual to the 140. I forget what the roomered release date for the 440 was.

I'm not refusing it yet because I'd rather have BD, SACD, and PQLS all in one player. The deal breaker would be if the player lacks 480i via HDMI. The BDP-430/41FD/43FD lack 480i via HDMI as well.

The one good thing about the SharPioneers is their ability to output 480i via Component while outputting HDMI signals. So I guess if I need to upscale/upconvert SD DVDs, I could always connect to the receiver via Component and SPDIF, and set the receiver to the DVD input.

as long as it's actually designed by Pioneer (not a re-badge), I'd buy it.

Of course only if the EE can be turned off and play PAL DVD. This year's players have EE even at the most minimal sharpness setting.
