From HomeTheaterReview.com

Dolby Vision is a proprietary end-to-end solution, which means you need Dolby Vision-mastered content played through a Dolby Vision-capable source sent to a Dolby Vision-capable display. The benefit to this approach is that every Dolby Vision display includes a chip that identifies its output capabilities (light output, color space, etc.), which it passes to the DV source so that the source can optimize the Dolby Vision signal frame by frame to meet the capabilities of that specific display while still preserving the intent of the original master. The same remapping algorithms are used in all Dolby Vision displays.

I think Plex or something like it would be great. I don't know about other people but mine doesn't pull up a picture for the movie until after you play it and go back to the menu but only for that one movie.

^ My hope is that most new players evolve to not using the old fashion video/music/photo navigation and instead offer a app/client player or more natural/intuitive GUI interface that you can directly see & control. Probably asking a lot.

the price tag to stay the same as the current models; hearing rumors of a ~$1000 price tag for the 113, as much as i want an oppo at that price for the features ill use(darbee, upconversion/scaling, 4k streaming apps) might be a tad bit excessive. though a stripped down "transport" version similar to the 101 or the bdp80 with just HDMI output, Darbee, and the video processing features would be nice, especially if you could buy direct

I follow this pretty closely and have heard no price estimates at all.

As to minimalist-transport players vs every-feature-plus-kitchen-sink-in-one-box, not enough people want the former. I wish it were otherwise.

I'm not paying $1000 for a 4k player ($999.99 either).

Well, I'm not paying 400 for a quart of milk either....

The Oppo base bluray players have gone:

83 ($499) -> 93 ($499) -> 103 ($499) -> 113 (???)

Add 100 for Darbee on the 103 and you get the 103D (one of my players). Darbee on its own is ~300.

Given the above pattern, I don't think it likely that Oppo would soak us for twice the price. I may be wrong, I thought polyester disco suits and platform shoes would stay around forever, but alas....

I should rephrase, a few people speculatedon the oppos unit over in the panasonic 900 thread based on that unit's price, really hope they are wrong though.

No news of any sort. HDR is required for UHD, isn't it? Dolby vision is optional but OPPO tries to be "complete". (Does that raise the price?) Just speculating.

The physical media is coming for DV & HDR10, so I would be shocked if the new Oppo did not have it. They're usually pretty good about that stuff.

Religion, race, color, creed...whatever.

I think CES will really be something between Sony's next TVs that they are rumoring about now, the next Oppo, the next OLEDs from LG. I'm hoping there will be some new Preamp to replace the Denon AVP and it will be a perfect storm in 2017. My bank account won't know what hit it.

I'm curious when we may see an official announcement. I think the holidays was mentioned a while back here, so I would imagine prior to CES. Oppo doesn't attend CEDIA or I would have guessed then.

Most vendors never pre-announce a product several months in advance. This is only July for something tentatively late 2016 at the earliest. When it is close to being ready then you will see some announcement.

If it's like previous models, you will see a new thread open on these forums when the unit is in late beta testing. At that time the beta testers are allowed by Oppo to divulge certain information. As the player nears production availability the amount of information detail increases.

One thing annoys me with 105 - when pushing music from JRiver server I cannot force gapless playback on albums which require it. Will be nice to fix it in new gen players... But not a biggy.
I would settle for nice transport with lots of features to adjust multiple video output(s) and stable hdmi output chip(s) so I can stop fiddling with long HDMI cables once and for all. One can dream, right? ))
