That section is also talking about disc-ed media. If it can play that high a bit rate, give it a try.

I've tried Mastered in 4k content with a bitrate around 39mbit without an issue

As a remux over DLNA or USB or burned to a BD?

All in one packages can be much easier, just make sure you can set some sort of guidelines for it and you should be fine.
I've tried some AiO in the past and been very unhappy with the output.

As far as the Oppo, it may not have the same limitations. You can try an Oppo thread or just wait until it arrives and see how it works. Some of my suggestions just make life easier, but aren't critical.
For example the no_cue stuff aren't always used in stuff you obtain elsewhere, and if you don't remux something that needs it, you just may not be able to FF or REW during playback.

Just ran a test with my new Oppo 103D using a blu-ray remux (mkv file) I made with original video and DTS MA 5.1 audio. This file froze my Sony S790 but played on my 103D with bit-rates varying between 35 to 40 Mbps over my home wi-fi network. I don't find any info in the Oppo manual on bitrate guidelines. One thing thats nice is the Oppo can use an attached usb thumb memory device (1 GB or larger) as cache which the S790 does not. This might be part of the reason the 103D is able to play the higher bitrate files.

Home Theater Setup
Polk RTi10 +CSi5+FXi5+RTi6
SVS PB2000 Subwoofer
Sharp LC-70SQ15U HDTV
Onkyo TX-NR818 AVR
Oppo BDP-103D & Toshiba HD-XA2 HD Player

From what I know only the 2014 players are fine with DTS-HD MKV's, 2012/2013 models don't like them. I have no issues with DTS-HD MKV's on my 6200. Its not a bitrate issue as if you remux the mkv to m2ts the files will play fine.

First, I wanted to mention that I tested a BD remux of a bonus feature tonight. As soon as the bitrates cracked 30mbps for more than a fraction of a second, it stuttered. I think the PS3 profile is probably still the best recommendation for these players.

Second, I'm still new to blu-rays, and I'm confused by something. When I watch DVDs and stop the film in the middle (to the Home menu), as with other DVD players, pushing Play will resume where I let off in the film.

This does not happen with most BD's which reboot the disc from the beginning.
Is this a BDPS790 issue, or is it true for all BD players?

This is true for all BD players. Resume features need to be programmed into the title during the disc authoring process and many early titles did not.

hey folks - I just picked up a demo s790 from bestbuy in maryland. ive held out for cheap prices and no one has NIB any longer. I needed the composite output for an old connection to the patio.

In any case, I wanted to know if there would be material difference in picture/sound compared to my bx57 (s570) from a few years ago. Just wondering if its worth switching with my mainroom player or not.

The Oppo has always had lip sync issues from day one. With every firmware update there has been it has never improved whereas the Sony has never been a problem from day one. I've adjusted the lip sync in the Oppo to as best I can using the Spears & Munsil calibration disc but I'm still not totally convinced I've got it sorted yet. The Sony has never needed to be touched. That is really the only thing I can say that frustrates me regarding the Oppo as everything else is great. I don't use the online features of either player all that much so I'm not the right person to ask regarding the streaming performance of either player. I just mainly play Blu-ray and the occasional dvd through both players and I think they're both exceptional performers with their quality of Blu-ray and dvd playback.

I have a Oppo 103D and it has no lip sync issues and I've never had to mess with the setting. Nor did the s790 however.

Lip sync problems can also be due to HDMI handshake problems with certain hardware.
Could be the Sony did not have handshake problems with your hardware.

Panasonic TX-P50GT60 / Marantz SR5004 / 4 x KEF HTS 3001 SE (front + rear) + HTC 3001 SE (centre) + REL T-9 sub / Oppo BDP-103EU (MultiRegion+MultiZone)

Ok... Riddle me this. My s790 cannot play Amazing Spiderman 2 in 2D, however, i am able to play the 3D version. Tried the 2D disc in my PS3 Fatboy and it worked there. Anyone have any knowledge of this?

I don't think so. It played in another player. I checked for a SW update and nothing required. I did watch Captain America: Winter Soldier in 2D last night with no issues. I was afraid that I would have this problem with the new releases. Happy that is not the case. I really do enjoy my s790's performance.

Player has been working great but I recently am getting a wait signal when trying to start up the S790 and it just stays there. Unplugged but doesn't help. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Unless you haven't done a hard reboot, then this sounds like a replacement. That sucks. I dread the day that happens to me. I really like my player.

Haven't tried that yet. I just unplugged for a minute and plugged back in. I did a search now for hard reset and it says hold power down for 10 seconds, is that correct?
