Can anyone with one of these players go to VUDU and try to play the HDX version of one of the 3D titles (next to the last collection). Does it appear to actually be 1080p? Apparently the PS3 downconverts it to 720p.

Is the BDT320 worth the upgrade from the BDT210?

It depends on what you value. Here are some things it is/has/can do:
  • It's slot loading.
  • It can play native 1080p Netflix streams and output VOD sources at 24p.
  • It can play 3D VUDU titles.
  • It can read files from NTFS formatted USB devices.
  • It can play AVCHD 3D and MP4 files from some sources.
  • It has a touchpad remote.
  • It has an unusual trapezoidal enclosure, smaller at the bottom than on the top (this seems to be a style this year)
If what you primarily do with your 210 is play BDs/DVDs I'd say that its definitely not worth "upgrading".

How is the 220 at playing files over a network share? I'm most concerned with MKVs (Blu ray and DVD rips) and FLAC (CD rips). I know the 210 had a lot of issues. Any improvement with the 220?

Reading, there's a Multi-USER mode where up to 4 people can be registered, have individual settings for video and audio, and registered associated smartphones. Facial recognition if you have the camera accessory. This would be great for Skype (I think) login, but what does it do if two or more are in the room?

Eco-sensor for detecting if there are people in the room. (I wonder if it's motion or infrared?) If you have a coffee table or something between you and the unit will it still work? I have a huge ottoman in front of my couch. Pets?

Yes, this is correct. I can confirm that 1080i/50 (PAL) will not play on the Panasonic, nor any PAL DVD disks (region 0) .. even when connected to a Display that can accept PAL signals.

Wow, did I make a mistake! The BDT220 is not yet available in Canada. I currently own the BDT100 and when I saw all the features of the 220, I really wanted one. So I called Panasonic Canada and was assured the only issue would be my warranty would be with Panasonic USA - she said the units sold in the US are identical to those sold in Canada!! So I ordered from Amazon.com!! I mean $134.99? Cannot beat that price up here - we get gouged badly north of the border.

Anyhow, today I find out about no DIVX on US models! That is what I watch the most!! No word yet if the 220 in Canada will still support DIVX, but the 210 does (whereas the 210 in the US does not).

Time to print me up some Amazon return labels!!!

BTW, I called Panasonic Canada back today. The guy I got today confirmed that US models differ from Canadian models. Thanks for the mis-information Panasonic Canada!!

It states in the manual that DIVX is supported in Candian models.

I bought a BDT210 about three weeks ago. I read about the issues with black flashes on the screen while watching Netflix. Of course, I thought, that won't happen to me! And of course, it did. I have a great internet connection, and my PS3, 360, ST30 Netflix app, or my WD TV Live has 0 issues with Netflix (all devices wireless, including the BDT210/220).

I played around with the BDT210 a bit, but decided to return it to Amazon for a full refund. Just received my BDT220 last night, and I've watched about 3 hours of Netflix thus far and have seen absolutely 0 issues like the ones I experienced on the 210 relating to Netflix.

I'd say if you're on the fence - jump over.

Thanks, this is very reassuring, but now I'm on the fence after looking at the Sony BDP-S590, it looks very comparable to the 220, I just have to figure out which one is a better streamer...

Check out apw2607's testimonial--he's tried a lot of different streamers, including a 220 and he's happy with the S590.

I probably should have mentioned, but forum member Ranger One (Gabe Gagliano) put up a review on his tech blog a couple of days back, TechOfTheHub.com here.

I love the 320. The main reason I didn't get a 220 is because I wanted the slotted drive due to 3 boys in the house constantly changing movies. They haven't broken the Wii yet so I wanted that same type of system. The touchscreen remote isn't that big of a deal for me. I'm not really a fan. If you don't care about slotted drive and are using a universal remote anyway, then get the 220.

I should mention that Netflix really rocks on this thing, but I'm sure it is probably the same on the 220. This is the main reason I bought a 2012 model.

I was going to pull the trigger on the 220. It seemed 'perfect' until news of the audio sync issue with netflix. I will probably still get one anyway and keep my fingers crossed for an eventual fix.

This issue was resolved by an avs member here. Turning off BD Live and power cycling resolves this lag issue.

Edit: thanks to Spoliator

Can anyone confirm does the 220 play WMV files?

Has anyone tried the region hack with these units yet? It works with last years models. I was wondering if Panny put the kibosh on this.

I received my BDT320 yesterday from Electronics Expo, great price but I am concerned. Can anyone confirm, is Electronics Expo in the habit of shipping components without being double boxed? This came to me with shipping label on the Panasonic package, what I received is what I would expect to walk out of Best Buy with. I'm honestly not too happy about this.

My BDT220 came double boxed from Amazon. Is your box damaged in any way?

Normally companys package their eq well. Is there any damage to the outside of the box (dented sides, torn box, crushed)? If not and the box is in good condition then their should be no problems with the player.

If you buy players from Sony direct they don't bother with a double box. And my players have being fine. I wouldn't worry about it.

When you design packaging for a product its principal requirement is that the product can be shipped !
