I have a LG BP520 Blu-ray player that I'd like to use to play video files from my Netgear ReadyNAS duo. I'm able to see a few files on the NAS but the vast majority of them aren't visible. The files that are visible seem to be of type "Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)" when checked on a PC with VLC. The files which aren't visible are of types "Codec: MPEG-4 Video (XVID)", "Codec: MPEG-4 Video (mp4v)" and "Codec: MPEG-4 Video (DX50)".
Is this just a limitation of the machine or might there be another issue?
Router reset seemed to have cleared the problem.
I have a BP630c latest update and I have a Iomega Personal Cloud with uses Twonky Server 7.2.6-2 and I have problems with MP4 I cant pause, fast forward, or rewind. I created the MP4 with ffmpeg and have tested them on other DLNA device like my droid and every thing is good. Are you having similar problems?
I reset my router which helped with the connection. Now I'm having an issue with slow internet speed with the BP620C only... I have my Apple TV below it and it's fine.
I have now noticed that details flicker when i watch i.e cinetrailer or Viewster. Does anyone else experience theese artefacts? Happens also when wathing mkv:s and started after firmware update? The artefact is most noticable when camera pans and then small details in the picture starts flickering like a wavy pattern....
Hi guys.. i am newbie i have the player lg bp620 i wonder if is possible read external subtitles on usb drive srt format.. on original blu ray disc.. How ? thanks...
blu ray disc + srt sub on usb drive.
My 3D was grayed out in the On display as well until I hooked the HDMI cable directly to the TV versus going through the receiver for surround sound. Prior to that cable change, it would not play the 3D blu rays - Now it is working . Just need to find out how to run through for surround sound now.
Made silly move to save 50€ and bought BP420 as I did not check that local model should be with N. My country is not even listed when selecting country. Netflix would work if I'd select Ireland but that is not what I'm after.
I've searched all over and with LG tv it is possible to change Nordic UI value for 0 to 1 and this I expect would be thing do with this BP also to make it BP420N and enable local "smart" content like Viaplay. I can access service menu of my LG plasma via Harmony remote when using but this 55ML7600 as reference for Harmony. But can't access service menu/EZ-adjust of BP420. Anyone having knowledge how to get there?
I have exactly the same 'challenge'. With that mac-address my dhcp-server from my Cisco ASA firewall refuses to give BP420 a dynamic IP-address. Resolution is to give fixed IP in instead. Faulty? In m$ world that would probably be called a 'featur'e
I am having exactly the same problem with my BP420 bought refurbished in the U.K. There's no N on mine.
I have exactly the same problem in that I cannot even select my country - U.K isn't on the list. Selecting "other" doesn't help.
Ireland is on the list, and as a test I tried getting apps via the Irish LG store. But it didn't work. However, it does seem to be connecting O.K to the net. I could at least register my account - I don't even have that option if I select "other".
My firmware is BD9.681.00.00.C. It doesn't seem to want to update.
Any advice very gratefully received!!!!!
I am somewhat alarmed that googling BP420P mostly turns up indian retail websites!
From the list of available countries in the set up menus my own unit would seem most likely to be continental european (no U.K option but many other european countries; also the DVD ratings system is set to DE for Germany, and there is a German language refurb test notice on the shipping box)
LG's tech support has washed their hands of it since it is likely a "grey" refurbed import but they do mention that the BP420 has a preset IP address and will not be able to access a given LG SmartWorld store unless the address matches - so you can't access the U.K store unless it is a bona fide U.K BP420.
Basically if anybody can give me any more info on the provenance of this BP420-P then I would be really grateful, so that I can negotiate with the outfit that sold it to me. LG said that an independent repair outfit might be able to fix this issue but this would probably cost more than the actual unit did!
I have attempted to upgrade the software using a download from LG's website but it just doesn't recognise it, and moreover it is a older software version than the one installed anyway - and presumably this wouldn't address the IP address issue. I have tried a factory restart but this makes no difference.
So any advice gratefully received!
Sorry for late reply. I got rid of mine by selling it in 'local' version of ebay. Have you tried to update via USB? I recall that it should be possible as well. Then again different firmware would not help I bet. www .lg.com/fi/tuki-tuote/lg-BP420N latest firmware is VER:BD9.720.00.C/DATE:2014.02.04 not sure if that will sink into yours, most likely yes. UK site has VER:BD9.593.00/DATE:2013.04.10 but strange thing is that file names are just the same. Typo?
Me as IT dude believe that instead of preset IP you(&LG) mean mac-address. At home network your ip-address is most likely something like 192.168.0.0-255 or 192.168.1.0-255. If LG would have that fixed it would be total madness.
What do we learn from this? Poor man should not buy cheap, it turns out be rubbish too often. Besides of that in college I was taught that the purpose of electronics manufacturing is to create products that last the warranty period. I don't think that is the objective of these unnamed companies.
My recommendation is to get rid of it unless you haven't already done it.
Is there a way to hard reset this?
Instructions say: "Make sure that the Quick Start mode of the unit is set to OFF!" I've searched the manual for "Quick Start mode" in vain.
How do I do that?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Here's the situation:
1) The player is in fact a LG BP320 International MultiZone MultiRegion Blu Ray Player.
2) Until recently, there was no problem whatsoever playing Blu Ray discs from regions A, B and C.
3) The firmware has been updated recently.
4) Since then, it is only reading Zone A.
Does anybody know what could be the problem? Thanks!
I've tried to downgrade the firmware in case the source of the problem is the recent firmware upgrade. The downgraded version we tried to install is LG_BD_7000M51. Downgrading was not successful.
Any insight would be enormously appreciated.
