Thank you for posting this and starting this thread...wonder if there is any chance that Denon link will trickle down to this model?

No, it looks like they will be sending DSD over HDMI if the SACD support is there.

Wow looks like Denon really is cutting back on quality of products. I think there xx11 line was the last for high quality products, its the end of there era.

Denon DVD-3800BDCI, Sony BDP-S550, Sony BDP-S1000ES
Toshiba HD-XA2, Toshiba HD-A35

I am looking at the 3313CI versus the 4411CI. Why do you say that? Is it the Universal players that you are talking about only? Please provide more detail if you can. Thanks.

Purchased this player last week as replacement for my Denon DVD-1940.

Reads DVD wel, but have a problem with brand new Blu Rays.

Once the tray is closed it sometimes cannot read the Data on the BR and ejects the
blueray disc.

Should I return this unit to the retailerd, problem with the lens?

The usb feature works great, you can play your avi files directly via the
usb port.

Tks.

Cannot comment on the 3D quality, since I do not own an 3d Tv yet.

But I love the usb stick possibility and direct stream, apart from playing normal Dvd and Blurays.

Unfortunately you cannot playback MKV files via a USB stick, but streaming films directly from you
pc via a network cable works perfectly. (trust it depends on your pc and codecs)

Only not able to use .srt files when streming data but for people in the USA and Canada you do not
need any subtitels for English spoken movies anyway.

So what you get is an Universal player, capable of playing CD/DVD/ Blurays and an usb port for a
usb stick or hd with certain streaming possibilities.

Had some initial problems with reading Blu Rays, but since I did a factory reset, the dbt1713ud has
been operating good.

Replaced my avr2310 by a AVR-3312 (hdmi 1.4) yesterday for a future 3d set up.

I've had this unit for a couple of weeks now and so far I really like it. I pair it with an AVR-3808 in my living room system. The TV is across the room (old house with VERY limited placement possibilities) so I have to run a 50' HDMI cable from the receiver to the TV (Samsung 40" LCD from 2007). I was using a Panasonic Blu-ray player - but had many HDMI dropouts - some even requiring a system power down to reboot the signal. Very annoying of course - tried many different kinds of cable, different Blu-ray player, even a different receiver with no luck.

The new Denon unit has had zero dropouts since I started using it - not a single one. The Panasonic, while a nice player, had droputs regularly - couldn't even watch a 30 minute TV show Blu-ray without them. So this alone makes me love this new player.

I have last year's model Denon DBP-2012UDCI in my home theater and have never really loved it, but I wanted to give the 1713 a try anyway since I've had great success with Denons over the years. I think the build quality is actually better on the 1713 - just seems sturdier. The drawer is very quiet too, and the sound quality is terrific. The online capabilities seem good - tried YouTube and a couple of the others with good success. I don't stream movies so I can't comment on Netflix. I have lots of SACD's and DVD-A's as well and they play with no issues and sound terrific.

Overall this one's a winner. High praise from me to Denon!biggrin.gif

I love this site!

Tks.

Since you've experimented with the USB port and playback of certain file formats, can you attest to whether or not it can play back FLAC 96/24 files via USB? It would be quite a convenience feature not having to burn FLACs to disc).

Just did a check for you, loaded a flac music file onto my usb stick.

And the Denon dbt1713ud plays the flac file perfectly via my Denon avr3312 Receiver
connected via hdmi cable.

I have been looking at this model, but also like the new Marantz version which would match my AVR. Glad to hear it works nicely, looks great too.

Great news! This is a huge plus for me, and it really earns the "universal" label.

shielded disc transport does sound great to me as most bd players out there are on the noisy side.

Plus the menu looks great! Seems like a (far) more polished version of the Sony.

Just not sure if it's priced correctly at $500, considering the oppo-XX3 offers the same build quality plus a few additional features (such as more streaming support and wifi).

Great review and pics here: http://www.areadvd.de/hardware/2012/denon_dbt_1713ud_test.shtml

Does this player include any internal bd-live memory by chance? Can't find that information anywhere.

For the price, I hope it does.

shamelessly replying to myself...

so, did some digging and this unit does have Internal memory. It's referred to a number of times in the manual.

However, it is certainly not 1gb that the 1611UD had before. This was expected since, unlike the 1611UD, the 1gb wasn't on the feature list.

Still, disappointing considering its price.

Probably just updating BD playable issues.

I on the other hand was unable to play "The Artist" this last weekend from Netflix. Sent that one back and got another one and it didn't play. Took the Denon out and hooked up my old Pio 51 and it played fine...anyone else having this problem with The Artist BD?

So to answer my own question about The Artist won't play. This is my first player with BD-live and if I disable BD-live the player will play The Artist just fine. I guess its trying to pick something up that's not there from the internet.

Was thinking about this player, but remembering the abysmal load times last time I looked into getting a BR player (2 mins to load a disc? lolz!!) Has Denon fixed these issues? Is this player stable?
