Problem started a month ago, when my disc tray suddenly said locked when I tried to open it. Followed the manual by holding play button on player until tray said unlock, and then it would open. Now when it says unlock, it immediatly reverts back to lock. Have tried unplugging and plugging back in holding different sequences of buttons, nothing works. Have even done a factory reset, still the tray is locked. Has anyone had a similar problem, or know of some code to keep the tray unlocked? Have talked to so called Sony help, they just kept referring me back to the manuals instructions, which no longer work. I would greatly appreciate any help in this matter

Often I find a firmware update cures a lot of issues. Are you using the latest firmware?

Meanwhile hopefully another BDPS580 user will spot this with some ideas other than this one:

It goes on to say later in the manual if 'TLK On' appears, to contact Sony Support.
