I am assuming you are playing the SACD version... put in the disc, press STOP on the remote, wait for the disc to stop and then press the CD/SACD button repeatedly until you see SACD MCH in the display. Then press play.
Look at page 28 in the manual for more info.
EDIT: and, yes, make sure you are using an HDMI connection out from the player to an AVR that (hopefully) supports DSD directly. Otherwise, you should be able to use LPCM out from HDMI and still get multi-channel playback.

I've been doing a lot of Head-Fi lately, but getting ready to move (again) and relishing the chance to re-swizzle my home theater, living room 2-channel and work desk setups
I've set as a goal not buy a single, new thing and just juggle old/semi-old stuff to fill out all three locations. We'll see if I can be that disciplined

ok its a sacd..good now keep in mind that not all sacd's are multi-channel some are stereo..on the bdp-62 make sure you set the audio out to bitstream also the hdmi out to bitstream to..now the AVR ..make sure you have the BD input set to hdmi...once all these settings are right..then i think you may have( i dont know just saying ) just a stereo version of the sacd...
Anyone have problems with frames dropping or a shuddering look with some blu ray titles? It's getting really annoying watching movies. Am I missing a setting or something? Have a directv box hooked up through same cable routed through marantz receiver and have no issues with its picture quality.

My settings are as described above. I have my BDP-62FD connected to a VSX-53 and DSotM plays in 5.1 so either the disc is two channel or there is a setting that has been changed, I wish you luck patwho.
You have to stop playback (i.e. press the STOP button) for the CD/SACD button to do anything - the player can't switch layers on the fly (i.e. during playback). This button toggles between available layers on a SACD - 2-channel DSD, Multi-channel DSD (if available) and Redbook audio (if available) - only the first layer is required of all SACDs.
I am still running Firmware 0205 any my player is working fine. No lock ups or sync issues at 24fps, is there any reason for me to update the firmware?
I want 480i via HDMI and DSD-to-PCM at 176.4 KHz. Right now, I use my Yamaha BD-A1010 via multi-channel analog connected to my Yamaha HTR-5935 receiver. Right now, it seems to be the only thing that addresses my SACD playback issues. Also, it does do 480i via HDMI. Yet I miss those Pioneer style remotes, menus with white on gray framed in black that highlight in blue when arrowing through the options, and the quality and convenience of my Elite VSX-32 receiver. I wish Pioneer would either add these features in a new firmware update, or add them to their 2013 flagship model.
Popping sounds when loading disc or stopping playback.
Hello. I got a multi-region 62FD from eBay a couple of days ago. Works great, but I've noticed that, when loading a disc (blu ray or DVD), my HT speakers make a one-second series of popping sounds (like a muffled machine gun). The same noise (a bit louder) happens when stopping playback on the disc. I tried 3 or 4 different discs, and it does it with all of them. It only happens when loading a disc or stopping playback. The player is connected to my receiver (a Pio SC-57) via HDMI and replaced a Panasonic blu ray player that was connected with the same HDMI cable. The previous player never made that sound. Would you know what it is and what the cause is?
(My setup is very simple: 62Fd and ATV3 connected to Pioneer SC-57 via HDMI. Pio connected to Polk LSi speakers via good-quality cables with banana plugs. Never had any problems before a couple of days ago).
Note from 62FD seller (inside the package) says the BDP has latest firmware already and warned not to upgrade firmware as that may mess with the multiregion modification.
