I have a BDP-S580 Blu Ray player. About 99% of what I do with it is streaming. I would like a bit more control than the existing interface allows. Has anyone successfully installed Linux on one of these? What are the hardware specs on one of these? Processor, Memory, Decoder, etc.......

Thanks

Jason

Haven't heard of anyone doing that. I highly doubt you could do anything with sony. But panasonic has open source, linux based firmware (I think). So you may want to look into one of those.

Realize that with any player you can greatly expand the streaming capabilities by using a good DLNA server. There's probably not much you can do about the interface without a hell of a lot of work. Doesn't seem worth the effort to me.
