Nothing on this release that I'm interested in. Won't ever install another beta release because last I was having so many other problems and couldn't figure out why until an Oppo tech support person told me it was because I had a beta release installed. Once I installed the final release the problems went away.

Well that is what "beta" firmware is all about... trying new things, but has the potential for issues.
Quite honestly, Oppo's beta firmware is usually closer to final firmware compared to other brands of players.
Usually pretty stable, but if you don't want that low risk of running into an issue, then maybe better to skip it.
Remember though, if you ever do try beta firmware on the Oppo players,
you still have the option of going back the non-beta firmware if you run into any problems.

Hello, guys. Is there a way to downgrade to version 3 of the Oppo iOS app? I can't use the app now because I'll be waiting for the official version of the upgrade.

While the firmware is beta firmware, you are not likely to run into any major issues.
You may want to just try it, and if you do find a reason you don't like it, you can always re-install/revert back to the old version.
I don't think there is a way to rollback the update of the MC app for iOS though.
(except for possibly using a backup of your iOS device if there was one created before the MC app updated)

HOWEVER... see the post below this one for an even better explanation.

I'm not sure why you may not be able to use the MC app with the 0827 firmware,
but perhaps your player isn't even updated to BDP10X-77-0827 firmware?

I have put the 0827 firmware on my player, and when I access the MC app with my smart device,
I get a pop-up stating...

Upgrade Player Firmware
In order to use the Tidal music streaming feature, please update the player's firmware to 79-0711B or later.
Don't Remind Me Again / Remind Me Later / Cancel

After I choose a selection, the player seems to work just fine with the newer version of the MC app.

So we are now good to go with both iOS and Android apps. Happy listening!

Hello. Thank you for the reply. I have the latest official firmware installed. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to use the app v4. I don't need Tidal that's why I am going to wait for the official release of the firmware. I'll check this evening if I can use the app with the current version of the firmware BDP10X-77-0827.

I believe that #5 fixed the smearing issue, and #8 fixed the ghosting issue. Or maybe it was the other way around.

So far I am very happy with the beta update. I subscribed to Tidal several months ago hoping it would prosper. Now I can justify my continued support. If you like higher quality audio, then you at least need to at least try Tidal. I find the album selection very similar to Spotify. Audiophiles unite!

Can anyone who has installed the beta firmware confirm that the Berlin Philharmonic app is still present and that it works without problems?

^ For all of you folks with questions about whether the Beta Firmware still works with X, Y, or Z, please remember that you can simply try it yourself and tell us.

The Beta Firmware allows rollback to the prior Official firmware if you discover a problem. Simply download the prior, Official firmware from the OPPO website and do that via a USB stick re-install -- the same way you installed the Beta Firmware in the first place.

2. Improved subtitle support for user-created media.

I've just updated the firmware on my 103 to the latest beta -- easy installation, no issues whatsoever.

But may I ask whether there's any further information on the above improvement item? I was hoping it would add the ability to change font size, color, position, etc. for user-created MKV files with internal subtitles, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Thanks in advance.

With the WIFI dongle from the Oppo-103 I have a little annoyance.
My PC is in the network and accessible via the Oppo (SMB). When PC is on I turn off the Oppo, plug in the WIFI dongle in the front USB and power the Oppo back on.
I then wait a while but my PC remains invisible when looking in "Network". Even after refreshing and searching multiple times.
When I still had a wired connection with the Oppo I never had this problem.
To fix this I have to go to settings and reload the previous network settings, to be sure I also do another network test.
When checking again under "Network" I can see my PC just fine.

Any ideas what is causing this? Or is this normal behavior?

Panasonic TX-P50GT60 / Marantz SR5004 / 4 x KEF HTS 3001 SE (front + rear) + HTC 3001 SE (centre) + REL T-9 sub / Oppo BDP-103EU (MultiRegion+MultiZone)

Odds are you are checking for the server before the Wifi networking is live. It takes a bit for it to wake up after the player powers up.

Try this: Put the Wifi dongle in the USB 1 port (not USB 2) on the BACK of the 103. Power up the 103. Go into Setup > Network Setup and check Connection Info and Connection Test until you see that the Wifi is live. Now, if necessary, also set Quick Start in Setup > Device Setup.

When you power off with Quick Start set, the player will keep the Wifi dongle live, meaning it should be available immediately when you next power up.

Seems like still some kinks or just unsupported functions in the new app. When playing mkv tv-rips using SMB the files play fine but the app says no media playing after 1 second but the file keeps playing. When going back and forth it shows media info, picture and such but stops after 1 sec again. No bid deal since it works playing the files. And on my US 103D with iPhone 6 (iOS 8.x) the setup tab in the app don't work either. It just keep trying with "loading". Tried restarting the app but no luck. Also note I'm still on the official fw since I don't want/need Tidal.

Would be great if Oppo kept supporting the "beta" SMB function on win 7, 8 and 10 since that is the most easy way to play all media files from a computer and you don't need a server running.

^ I suggest you install the 0711B Public Beta firmware and see if that fixes your issues with the MediaControl 4.0 app.

If you find a problem with the Public Beta, you can re-install the current Official firmware (via USB stick).

I have the Beta firmware. The Berlin Philharmonic app is still there. I don't subscribe, but I could start it up and view the menus, so I'm guessing it continues work as it did in the past.

Jitter's audio effects
(You need to choose the YouTube button in the video or click on the link above the video to go to YouTube itself, otherwise you can't download the video)

I then clicked on the Download Flash and Video icon. Chose the top most option (which was 720 MP4) and my BDP-103D played back the file perfectly.

EDIT 2: Funny thing, Gracenote Lookup thought I was watching a clip from The Butterfly Effect.

Thank you Neuromancer...your scheme works extremely well and i can play the videos fine now as .mp4 files.

Downloading it directly gives you the MKV files with the unsupported audio/video codecs (Orbis and VS9 respectively, the latter based on the H.265 video standard which current Oppo players can't support).

Going to Youtube directly gives you other file formats(such as .mp4) which are compatible with Oppo players.

Thanks again,
David

Thank you very much. I am very hesitant to install any new firmware, let alone beta, and we use the Berlin Phil app more than any of the other Oppo apps.

If you like classical music, it is well worth trying, and there are a number of free concerts available in the archive for which you don't need a subscription (or a ticket, as they call it).

Don't you gave to pay in euros to buy tickets to the concerts here?
