Ouch!

Been installing my shiny new 203. Had to put the ir emitter back. No problem Oppo 203 has an eye in there :-)

So same procedure with my trusted Oppo 103. Placed the emitter on the ir eye in the back No reaction :-(

Silly me - opp 103 has no IR eye backsides!! Had to glue the emitter in plain sight in front of it.

Hmm, sso an eye will cost, and will mean a new power adapter etc??

The 103 has a wired "IR" input min-jack on the back. Hook up the 103 with a wired connection from your IR receiver instead of running an emitter to it.

Oh?

How do I do that?

And
B. Why dont I succeed in getting 103 ip controlled with roomie remote, I mean everything works ip controlled. Alas, the power on is unsuccessful, I have tried both login and power off-- it will not turn on.

C. Ditto on my 203, no power on.

D. This is why I run two emitters from my simple blaster, only way to turn them on.

Use of the Wired IR Input jack on the back of the 103 is discussed on page 21 of the Manual.

For your problem with IP control Power On commands go into Setup > Device Setup and confirm that both IP Control is enabled and that Standby Mode is set to Quick Start. Quick Start keeps the player's Networking live while the player is "off" -- which is what roomie will need if it is going to try to send an IP command to the player to take it out of standby, i.e., turn it On.

In the 203, what's called Quick Start in the 103 is now named Network Standby.

I use the wired IR feature just fine with my URC setup. And the IP stuff works fine too as long as QuickStart is on.

Oh man it worked!!

Silly me. It was on standby energy efficient. Thats too bad.

So now my 103 is ip controlled, thank you!

The 203 is "not". Still have to do the media control/ port 436 trick.
Guess thats its stilll not properly supported by roomie remote.

I have a small issue with my wired IR.
I use a Harmony 1100 with an IR extender. an IR wire (3.5mm mono) is connected between the 103 and the extender. It used to work fine before.
recently, it seems like the IR or the Oppo is not working properly. I have to keep clicking on the remote or move the remote in my hand, in order to get the Oppo to work.

Does anybody else have or had this issue with their Oppo?

If you use the Oppo remote, does it work as expected?

Yes, the Oppo remote works perfectly when I unplug the IR cable.

Can you try the OPPO remote via the IR extender, or does that only work with the Harmony?

Hi Bob,

The Oppo remote does not respond as long as the wireless extender wire is connected to Oppo.

So your Harmony IR extender is RF based? You can't transmit a regular IR remote (like the OPPO remote) through the extender to the jack on the back of the player? I'm looking to eliminate one potential problem device at a time -- in this case whether the problem is the Harmony remote itself. Eliminating the extender as the problem will be tougher unless you have another way of feeding that IR jack on the back of the OPPO.

That's expected, as the player should turn off the front panel IR sensor when something is plugged into the back.

That is what I'm gonna do. I'll setup the Oppo to my Harmony without the extender and I'll test the response (just like the Oppo remote).
