Good afternoon, First poster here...Ive trawled the board a bit mixed signals.

I have just bought a Oppo 80 from ebay, £130 uk so like 200$

wanted it for the better audio & silent playback

now all the HD things i have on Hardrives dont work on oppo :-(

is this the same for everyone or will NEW firmware cure this ?

thanks in advance.

Oh also does the light come on remote every time you push a button ?

Or do those tiny switches inside the battery cover make a difference to the light show ?

Welcome to AVSForum.

Moderators ask that you post these sorts of questions in the owners thread: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1219906/official-oppo-bdp-80-owners-thread

We'd need to know more about the files involved. What container, what A/V codecs?

Media file support on the BDP-80 is the same as on the BDP-83. See the FAQ for details: Media Files

Both of those players are OPPO's first-generation Blu-ray and have been out of production for years. It's unlikely we'll see new firmware except for Blu-ray disc compatibility.

The original BDP-80 remote was not backlit. Does yours say BDP-80 on it? The remotes from all the OPPO players are compatible sp you can use them with any player.

The switches inside the remote battery compartment are to select the code set recognized by the player. This is so you can have multiple players that don't all respond together when the remote is used.
