Whats a better BD palyer the BDF7500 or the BDH6500?

Do both support the same formats including DTS-HD Master Audio ?

Do both have the Samsung smart hub where you can add apps?

Not Opera

Thanks

Can get both locally. 7500 is just under 200. 6500 about 140.

7500's are getting thin. Amazon doesn't have them. Local Fry's electronics does.

Hard to decide. It is these Samsung's or Sony's 6200. Everything else been eliminated.
Same issue here. Did you ever decide which one is better?

Do they both have the Samsung smarthub where you can add apps? which one has a better faster processor?

BestBuy has the BDF-7500 for $139.99 and the BDH-6500 for $159.99

Thanks

Whats a better BD palyer the BDF7500 or the BDH6500?

Answer: The BD-F7500

Do both support the same formats including DTS-HD Master Audio ?

Answer: Yes

Do both have the Samsung smart hub where you can add apps?

Answer: Yes

Which has the faster processor?

Answer: Not provided in the specs but if one was faster than the other, my guess would be that it would be in their flagship BD-F7500.

What really sets the 7500 worlds away from the 6500 is the inclusion of dual HDMI ports that can come in really handy. For example, you can run one to your TV and the other to your receiver. And check out the weight of the 7500 - 4.4 lbs versus 1.1 lbs.

Here are links to Samsung's site for each.

BD-H6500
http://www.samsung.com/us/video/blu-ray-dvd/BD-H6500/ZA

BD-F7500
http://www.samsung.com/us/video/blu-ray-dvd/BD-F7500/ZA

Interesting that the prices you quote has Best Buy selling the BD-F6500 for a cheaper price than the flagship BD-F7500. If you check the Samsung site you'll see the BD-F7500 is the more expensive of the two.

Snap that BD-F7500 up. That's a bargain!

Yup, $250 now ... just because we were talking about it. ...No more talk* and the price will go back down where it was.

Samsung is listening (reading) and uses the info as their price stratagem.

Although you can't turn it off completely (unless the unit is turned off obviously) you can control it as follows.

Menu >> System >> General >> Front Display

The following settings are availabe:

Auto = Dim during playback and bright any other time.
Dim = Dim the display window at all times.
Bright = Brighten the display window at all times.

I keep mine set to Auto and I can't even tell it's on while a movie is playing. Since the On Screen Menu gives you all the info you are after you could always cover the front display with <GASP> a piece of black electrical tape.

Hmmm, I have no [Menu] button my remote but did find the setting. Turning on my player the startup screen for the BD player comes up on my flat screen and I followed this path: Settings >> System >> General >> Front Display

In any case thanks for the info

Samsung BD-F7500 chip is Silicon Image Sil9616, this chip also installs no less than Oppo BDP-103D, a DVD worth about 900 euros. It is no coincidence that this player is also available for 7.1 analog outputs, dual HDMI, LAN, etc.

Hey, thanks again Musician, I am enjoying it. Watched my first movie since setting the unit to Auto Dimming, nice not having that bright display, also used the Dim button on my 4520CI to turn off its display Much nicer in a dark room.

Hi all, Yesterday, i substitute my bd e 5500 with new bd f 7500, I don't need 3d so, i connected blu ray and other sources via hdmi, and used 4306 monitor out to connect tv, the same way used when used old bd e5500.
The problem is that i lost hdmi signal after few seconds, (used hdmi for both audio and video), sometimes video/audio appear againg, then goes off again.

Some have some suggestion to solve the problem, some have tried same connection?

An alternative is to add a new hdmi and connect directly on tv, and taking audio from digital spdif or analog RCA, but i have to add a 15m hdmi cable... and i don't know if there is enaught space for new cable.

Thanks for posting that.

Here is a link confirming that it is also in the Oppo 105D...

And a site (in French) that includes some pictures of the BD-F7500 showing a photo of the Sil9616 chip (see thumbnail).

Solved!, there was a problem with old hdmi, that had non problem with old bd e 5500, but had a problem with new 7500. Cable canged, hdmi works now!

Hello, I'm considering this player but i have a question regarding the dual hdmi outs. I currently run my ps3 and htpc through my okyo sr308 then to my Sony hw40es projector.

Would i get better picture quality if i ran the f7500 straight to the Projector and the 2nd hdmi out to the Onkyo for sound??

I dont think my onkyo performs any video upconversion so i'm not sure if it does anything to the image before sending it to the projector

Thanks

The 7.1 outputs were a consideration for me in buying this player. I had read some reviews and it was noted that these discrete outputs are disappearing from players and although I didn't think I would ever use them I figured "why not", can't change my mind later...

When I picked up my Samsung 55H8000, after 14 years without a television, and hadn't yet purchased my Denon4520 it dawned on me that the 7500 had those analog outputs which allowed me to use my old sub-woofer along with the TV's speakers. What a difference to TV sound!

Can the 7500 bitstream both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD?
Is the HDMI 2 still audio only even after the firmware updates?

And it's a fact. ...Both lossless hi-res audio decoders are on board, and are bistream through HDMI.

I'm looking into buying this player.
Can anyone confirm if the OSD can be turned off?
I don't want to see PLAY or PAUSE from the player on screen when I push those buttons.

I didn't see anywhere in the settings where this could be turned off, however, the play and pause is at the very top of the screen and transparent and only stays on a second after pressing the buttons. Even when pressing pause, it disappears in a second.

Just recieved this player last week.
It is simply the best BD player!!!
I had a samsung 5900 (went through 3 of them) and constantly had problems.
Load times are about 4x faster, fantastic picture and sound.
The overall layout , buttons etc are much better thought out.
It's near silent while playing (compaired to others)
BD wise and BD wise web seem to look great.

Tho I have found one bug, if left paused till the screen saver comes on, once you resume playing it turns off cinema smooth (still says on), would need to go and turn off them back on. Only seems to do this if screen saver comes on?

Awesome, I might get it too; even if I already have all the BR players I need. ...Just for the cool form factor. ...And I can replace my 6900 with it, which is missing too much (too old, only one HDMI, no useful bass management - worst ever, and it's time).

Does anyone have info on just what BDwise and BDwise web does?
I tried adjusting the BDwise to the same settings as I have for Movie mode and it doesn't look the same, so there must be something (hidden?) that also changes.
So far I seem to prefure the BDwise web setting for most BD play back
