I got a Oppo-103. I recently bought a 4 pack of WWII Blu-Ray's (Patton; The Longest Day, Tora, Tora, Tora and The Sand Pebbles). They are from 20th Century Fox. Three of them play fine. One of them won't load. It just goes to chapter 1 and counts to 6 and stops. Screen is blank. My firmware is up to date and I even cleared out the Persistent Storage and turned off BD-Live....nada! Thinking it was the blu-ray, I returned it. The store plopped it in their player and it played! They agreed to give me another brand new 4 pack. I went home and the same blu-ray STILL won't play so I know it isn't the disk!!! It's driving me nuts!!! I have 100 blu-ray's and this is the only disk that does this! Anyone ever seen an issue like this? HELP!

Home Theater:
- Sharp 80-Inch 1080p 240Hz LED-Lit 3D
- Marantz NR1603 Slim Line AV Receiver
- KEF 7.2 Speaker System
- Oppo BDP-103

which title?

If it's not a BIG screen, it's not a theater...

The Longest Day. I've heard others having the same issue with this title too.

You should email OPPO support if you haven't already - it's possible that they know about and can help. And if they haven't heard about it giving them the exact product bar code will identify the source of the problem for them.

Very cool. I contacted them and they informed me that they were investigating and a firmware update was coming.

Fox has an entire building full of software engineers who's sole purpose is to devise ways to make BD discs refuse to load. They specialize in the creative interpretation of JAVA and BD-Live programming specs, and making certain that each and every release version of the same movie is programmed differently. One really does have to marvel at the wonder of their skills in these endeavors. Their battle cry is: "But it works on the PS3!!!"

I have a 105 and have the same problem with Longest Day and I purchased it as a single disc.. Stops right at 6 count every time. I spoke to Oppo and they said that it is a firmware update that has not been addressed as yet. It is actually the chip firmware rather than the player firmware. The higher end Sony machines also have the problem because they use the same (Marvel Q2) chip. Only paid $13 for the movie so I think I'll just hold tight until they update the firmware. It'll cost more to mail it back.

I sent them the problem disc and they said they would try to address it in the next update.

Not that it's surprising (I think they use the same firmware) but it still doesn't work on a BDP-105, either. eek.gif

I don't think we are going to get a fix for this one after 4 months.

Oppo told me they would issue an update for this disc in a few weeks. They resolved the problem with the dis loading.
