Since becoming a Netflix subscriber 14 months ago, we have been watching 1 to 3 movies/TV shows per week, always BluRay if available. It seems like we have a much higher percentage of discs that freeze or pixellate or have audio tracking issues than we ever had with DVDs. The latest was Game of Thrones in which 2 of the first 5 episodes (on 2 different discs) were unplayable due to freezing or audio freezing. FWIW, both discs were visually flawless.

I have a Samsung BD-P1600 with the latest firmware. Is this a known problem player? Are newer players better overall than 3 year old models? Or is it just the nature of BluRay discs due to the sheer amount of information on them? It's especially frustrating with Netflix due to the 2 day turnaround if there's a problem. My better half is ready to throw in the towel on Netflix and go back to getting DVDs from the library.

The next time you get a bad disc take it to a friends house or an electronics store and test it out. I get 4 titles a week from Netflix and I have never had a bad one. If you're having so many failures that it's an issue, I suspect it's your player.

You'd be better off looking at the dedicated 1600 thread and the Game of Thrines thread to see if anyone else has had problems.

I'll check those but I know the 1600 thread is pretty inactive, probably because it's so old. Thanks.
