Since becoming a Netflix subscriber 14 months ago, we have been watching 1 to 3 movies/TV shows per week, always BluRay if available. It seems like we have a much higher percentage of discs that freeze or pixellate or have audio tracking issues than we ever had with DVDs. The latest was Game of Thrones in which 2 of the first 5 episodes (on 2 different discs) were unplayable due to freezing or audio freezing. FWIW, both discs were visually flawless.
I have a Samsung BD-P1600 with the latest firmware. Is this a known problem player? Are newer players better overall than 3 year old models? Or is it just the nature of BluRay discs due to the sheer amount of information on them? It's especially frustrating with Netflix due to the 2 day turnaround if there's a problem. My better half is ready to throw in the towel on Netflix and go back to getting DVDs from the library.
