I bought a Peachtree DACit, thinking that a current outboard DAC would be better than the internal DAC in my BDP-83. I am purely an analog guy, no HT, surround sound, etc.

I primarily use the 83 for CD's and watching Blu Ray movies. I wrote to Oppo and they said that for CD's, the DACit was fine for audio. But when watching BR's, the response was "When using the DACit you may only see a benefit from CD and DVD-Audio sources. Blu-ray will result in lower quality audio as Blu-ray will be 16-bit/44.1KHz, while the player can do Blu-ray at 24-bit/192KHz depending on the source"

So my question is, can I use the Coax output to the DACit for CD's, and have the RCA's from the Oppo going to another input on my preamp to bypass the DACit ?

My apologies if this is a simple question. I am not up to speed with all the HT HDMI input stuff and as previously stated, I am all analog kind of guy. Yeah, it's old, but I like the gear.

Any info or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks !

Jim
