I don't have any complaints... it works great with BD movies and Netflix.

I don't buy $30 BD players and getting a gaming console with BD playback and Netflix for the $400 I paid at launch was great since I don't want too many superfluous source devices hooked up at once.

BT is better than IR since it doesn't need a line of sight to work.

Perhaps some people forget the PS4 is a gaming console, not a $30 BD player... if that's what you want, a PS4 isn't for you.

Just venting about having to deal with the remote issue since the PS3 days. Would have been nice if they worked with IR all along since everything else in my rack does.

Yeah, on second thought... I have no issues using the remote for ps4 control, but as a universal remote I have a few gripes about it.

Apparently, the Amazon reviews claim a second revision will fix some of those issues?

(I hope Sony just uses firmware updates to improve functionality of the remote with PS4 and all major apps.)

Volume punch thru only works with tv not amp. I read this over at the Playstation.com support forums

Is the PS3 or the PS4 the better 3D BD player? What about regular BDs?

For 2D, I wasn't able to notice any significant differences in picture quality with BD movies. Never watched BDs in 3D, so can't comment there.

Yeah, I read that today on Amazon and elsewhere.

Apparently, if you program AVR as TV then you can use it (but I don't want to do that).

Not too concerned about the universal remote features as my xb1 remote isn't universal at all and I still love it.

The PS4 is better for 3D because it can bit stream Dolby True HD 7.1 while on the PS3 it will send the audio out as Dolby Digital 5.1

I needed to calibrate my inputs differently for my Xbox One and PS4, the PS4 needs about 15 more clicks higher in terms of brightness than the Xbox One, does anyone experience the same issue? The PS3 was the same from what I remember on different receivers/TVs/Projector combos.

3D quality is pretty good from the PS4. I can't tell a difference from PS3 or Sony BDP-6200. The PS4 does seem to load blu ray slower then the 6200.

Some PS3 owners still don't believe me when I tell them this.

I bought a PS4 specifically for this reason. I still have a backlog of PS3 games but knew I'd want a PS4 anyhow. I picked up a Harmony Elite which has Bluetooth built in so I can control my PS4 on the same remote as everything else.

I got the deal of a lifetime on the PS4 though. Net $260 out the door from Target and ended at net $105 after it was all said and done. ($350 - free $50 Target Giftcard - 15% code - 15% code traded 3 times for Uncharted vouchers worth $40 each - $35 Target gift card to compensate for last weeks 10% off Cartwheel = $105) . Then I paid $240 for a Harmony Elite ($350 - $100 Best Buy Trade-in promo - 10% = $240).

At least I can now sell my PS3 Harmony Adapter to recoup $30.

I'm probably the only person alive who paid more for their remote than the PS4.

No, shouldn't happen if both are outputting 16 to 235 (video range)

Also called rgb limited on ps4 or standard (recommended) on xb1

It appears when the remote is in ps4 mode, any button held down for a few seconds will turn on the console

Just like with the official ps3 remote

I can control my Yamaha RX-V661 by selecting AMP on this remote and can control the volume that way, no problem.

Yeah, so can I... but volume punch for avr doesn't work... apparently, a known issue the instructions left out

Is there any reason for me to keep my PS3 if I don't play games on it anymore?

The PS4 should do the same things for movies and BD & BD/3D

Do you own a ps4? If not, you may want to get one first and then decide if there is anything you need to do that the ps3 does and the ps4 doesn't. Personally, I stopped using my ps3 for anything other than ps3 games years ago. But Netflix and 2D BD movies are what I use my ps4 for aside from ps4 games. I don't use it for anything else.

I have both. I've been using my PS3 as a BDP for 3D an regular but I don't use it for that anymore.

If there is no noticeable quality difference, I'm gonna sell my PS3

It's something you can program so that the volume control always works for one of the gray source buttons, even when another source is selected, including the ps4. However, the feature only works for the tv source at the moment. It doesn't work for the amp source.

If you have a PS3 Harmony Adapter and a Harmony remote, you might want to keep the PS3 around just for that unless you feel like spending mega cheddar on a new Harmony to control the PS4 like I did....unless you like using the game controller for movies.

Same. As for BD quality though, they are identical (except the PS4 can do simultaneous 3D+TrueHD).
