Do you have any "premium" HBO etc channels?

I gave up with mine because they wouldn't work through it.

I do have a 4x2 Matrix switch I ran it through but it worked for a couple months with no issues.

All other channels worked.

Question for anyone who can help. I was finishing Schindler's List tonight and the audio went completely silent. It occured when the survivors were walking over the hill and it changed from black and white to color. I watched in silence to the end credits. Paused the movie and it didn't help. I FF a few seconds and the audio came back on. I then rewatched the scene and it did not repeat. Is this just a random dropout on a defective disc or is it something with the Oppo. I have never had this happen before. Thanks for your help.

Interesting...
It could be either one. Has the SL disc been out on the market a long time, or is it more of a newer release for BD?
If it's an older release, then I would think we would have more reports of the disc not operating correctly with the player,
IF the issue is a compatibility/authoring/firmware issue.
More than likely it's probably one of those one-off errors since you couldn't repeat it,
but to be safe you may want to report the incident to Oppo.
If they have the disc on hand they can test it in house or at least put the incident on record if anyone else should
happen to have the same problem, then they have a known pattern to reference.

Personally I haven't watched that disc so I can't offer my own experience.
It has been quite a few years since I saw it though, so maybe I will check into renting the BD.

Thanks for the reply! The disc is newer and was the first time watching it. I will contact Oppo and let them know. When that stuff happens it always makes me worried that something is going on with my gear

Since you are not able to reproduce this issue, I'd chalk it off to an anomaly and forget about it. If anything it might have been an HDCP error, so if it returns you might want to start swapping HDMI cables. But any further troubleshooting will require more information about the setup, what's connected to what, etc.

Question for anyone that owns the Vizio S5451w-C2 54" 5.1 Soundbar System:

I'll be receiving this system in the next couple of days and wanted to know if the 103D will do a better job decoding the audio if I set it up going through it instead of my HDTV. I have a lot of MKV rips with DTS-HD-MA 5.1 audio that I think would benefit if they weren't dumbed down by the Vizio into a lossy format.

Will the 103D make a difference in this scenario when it comes to SQ or should I just simplify my set up and connect it straight to my HDTV bypassing the 103D all together?

I'm no expert but that audio system I don't think will benefit at all.

Considering the purchase of 103D.
Is the 103D worth the extra 100 over the 103 or should I wait for the new model?
Thanks

What new model?? AFAIK, there isn't one pending to come out anytime soon.

The main feature of the "D" model is the inclusion of Darbee Visual Presence, which is a picture enhancement feature.
It gives a nice perceived contrast and depth enhancement to the any video within or passing though it.
There are some who don't care for it, many who like it, and many who aren't sure if it benefits smaller screens.
Personally I like it a lot on my large screen projection system.
There are probably quite a few videos on YouTube showing it off if you want real examples.
Here's a teaser =>
I think overall the $100 difference between the 103D and 103 is well worth it.
You'd have the newest model and better resale value too. YMMV...

New owner...

Just got mine yesterday.... Connecting and getting her up and running was pretty easy. I have a set top box going through it as well and Darbee up and running.

Instead of pouring through this 6 mile long thread is anybody here using this with a projector? I have an Epson 9700 UB (106") and my seating is 11.5 feet away! Just curious about others settings with a similar set up!

Thank you in advance!

Is it possible to program the 103D to play a custom media playlist?

What I'm looking to do is to set up a list of actions for the Oppo to do in order. For example:
  1. Play \\server-nas\policytrailer.mp4 (play a video file from a network-connected device or the USB stick)
  2. Play Blu-ray starting at Chapter 1
or to get more sophisticated:
  1. Play \\server-nas\policytrailer.mp4 (play a video file from a network-connected device or the USB stick)
  2. Play Blu-ray timecode 0:00:00 - 0.35:00 (play only the first 35 minutes)
  3. Play Blu-ray timecode 0.36:30 - 1:01:30 (play this time segment)
  4. Play Blu-ray timecode starting at 1:30:00 to end
Alternately, instead of a Blu-ray, the last three steps would be performed on a video file on the network connected device or USB).

I've done some searching here and elsewhere, and looked through the manual, and haven't found anything that says that it's possible. I've done the first scenario with multiple players, but it's clunky and prone to problems related to a programmable remote not knowing the status of each player, etc.

I would think that either through the player itself or through the control app, this should be something that is technically possible.

Can anyone verify whether or not this can be done?

I'm a newbie, but can I ask why this is the go to player? Before I drop $600 I wanted to justify my purchase.

BigScreen,
There's no support in the player to automate switching content sources -- e.g., automatically transitioning from a streamed media file to playing a Blu-ray disc.

Nor does OPPO's own MediaControl app let you automate such transitions.

If all of the content were on a server (no Blu-ray disc involved), you might be able to find a server with automation support to push that content to the player in the desired order.

Alternatively, you could possibly accomplish this using the RS-232 remote control or network-based remote control and a suitably sophisticated, programmable control system such as Crestron. The transition between media file playback and disc playback would need to go through Home Menu. I.e., the viewers would see the player switching gears while that was happening.

The range of things it does well (way more than just playing Blu-ray discs), the quality of construction, and OPPO's customer support.

Be aware that if you order direct from the OPPO Digital web site, they offer an easy, 30-day return policy -- all you risk is the shipping cost. So you can try the player yourself at home, and decide for yourself whether it is worth it to you.

I own a Samsung P64F8500 plasma tv that converts what is being fed into it to a color space of 4:2:2. I have read on this thread that the Oppo 103D fails the Spears and Munsil 4:2:2 chroma burst test when using HDMI 1. So should I send the signal out from the Oppo as 4:4:4 or 4:2:2? I would prefer not adding a useless conversion to the chain by going 4:4:4 back to 4:2:2. I can't tell the difference between the 2, so if the OPPO is failing the 4:2:2 chroma test, it sure isn't visible to my eye. What would I need to look for?

Just purchased my first Oppo (103d) and so far so good. The sound quality is what actually blew me of the water! Never have my movies sounded so good.

One question. I was using the split screen for a demo of Darbee but a while later, I was unable to get a split or sweeping screen using the buttons.
One other question as well. Can you pause a blu ray and then fiddle with darbee to get the desired level?

Cheers
