As with the other platform, 3D BD support is not enabled on launch. Hopefully it won't be too long. I would like to have a one stop entertainment system.

Thanks for starting. Mine should be here Friday night along with the 12 month Live card. I'll post back once I get it setup and can test with spears and munsil, as well as seeing what color space and bit depth it's putting out on stuff like Amazon and Netflix.

Hoping this will be a one stop shop for blu-ray and streaming.

Xbox One Adds New DTS Surround Decoder
Quote:
Calabasas, Calif. — Microsoft’s Xbox One game console will incorporate DTS’s new DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 decoder when it goes on sale Friday.

With the technology, the console will be able to decode 7.1-channel soundtracks streamed over the Internet in the DTS-HD format.

The new DTS decoder not only supports streamed and downloaded video incorporating DTS-HD soundtracks, but it also decodes any DTS audio format on optical discs, including DTS-HD Master Audio, the company said.

Redmond, Wash. – Microsoft’s Xbox One gaming console, which launches Friday, will incorporate a new Hulu Plus experience.

The console will include a Hulu Plus app for Xbox One that was designed to improve the TV-watching experience, the companies said.

Key new features include: the signature tray-style navigation system that allows quick scrolling through recommendations, popular shows and movies; richer and larger artwork; easier search functionality; a new Shows You Watch feature that jumps straight to favorite shows; and dedicated show pages for Hulu Originals, Hulu Latino, Video Game Trailers and Hulu Kids.

Starting today, a selection of new kids episodes and titles are available in the Hulu Kids hub on the Xbox One.

Here are some pics/compared to Oppo 103D. Im not sure why everyone made such a big deal of the size, its good and heavy and looks great in the tv stand. The power brick is ridiculous though IMO, and I like the glowy Xbox logo on the front.

Anybody had any issues with sound (especially dialog) cutting in and out? Noticing it while playing blu-rays, I've tried various sound settings, and it still seems to come back occasionally. Probably means I won't be using this as a blueray player, I'll probably have to continue to use a stand alone blueray player. My setup fyi is xbox one to receiver, output to TV, regular 5.1 setup.

I'm interested in hearing how much the pass-thru effects picture quality. I've heard conflicting reports.

PQ is noticeably darker and a pinch of fuzzy. I will be routing it back through the receiver.

The problem is it outputs RGB. Im not sure how well that will work with DVR's inputting ycbcr color space. As far as it outputting bluray as RGB, you just need to make sure your display in is the right mode for RGB input. Sometimes Auto works, sometimes you have to change a setting for RGB. If blacks are crushed, or washed out, its a setting.

I checked my VT50 on DVE and Spears and Munsil and the brightness bars show properly, so the VT50 is not having an issue with RGB.

My configuratoin is

DirecTV->XBOne->Anthem MXR 700->Mits 75 laserview

The MXR and the Mits don't really set the input color space in that way at least not that I can see.

Looks like this was my fault, when I pulled out the receiver to setup the Xbox one, I loosened the center channel wire a little, once I connected these securely again, I haven't had the audio cutouts anymore so far.

Decoding is done by the Xbox and sent as uncompressed PCM to the receiver.

I am having problems with the Blu-Ray playback on the One. When I have it set to 24p, the audio track is noticeably ahead of the video. When I hit the home button, my tv goes back to 60p (of course) and the audio/video are in sync in the little box on the home screen.

I'm connected to my TV via an AVR (Denon 3808ci) over HDMI with the 7.1 PCM. The same setup works fine with no sync problems with the PS3 blu ray support, which I've been using for a while.

Is anyone else seeing this? If this is acknowledged and there is a fix en route and someone finds it could you post here?

So it's confirmed that the Xbox One decodes DTS Master and Dolby TrueHD from Blurays? I'd prefer bitstream, but as long as I'm getting the best possible soundtrack somehow, I don't need bitstream.

I'm seeing the same issue on my setup. Hopefully MS fixes this soon.

DVD-R playback works fine.
BD-R playback seems to be disabled (and when I called Microsoft , rep confirmed)

I hope this is an oversight from Microsoft and not a 'lazy' additional level of protection for the games. Many home have home movies made on BD-R.
