Interesting, remuxes fail to work properly most of the time for me, forwarding via chapters is fine though, I spent a lot of time messing with remux settings and I haven't been able to find the issue, setting cues to none worked somewhat, you can forward/rewind but its very slow.

It must also have something to do with the Blu-ray player and how it handles the file, the same remux works fine through my TV (KDL-55W805)

TrueHD works via M2TS, last time I checked it didn't work via MKV's.

They do not have a current photo of the player or an estimate of availability. They do, however, have a US-style 12-digit UPC code. Maybe this player is coming to the US after all.

Yeah, I sent them an email three days ago asking about the 7200 and stating that according to Sony - the 7200 won't be available in the US.

They have not responded.

Thanks, I saw the Sony response to your Sony Community post saying they don't know yet if it will be available in the US. Who are they kidding?

But today I also found it listed on B&H Photo-Video (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1033029-REG/sony_bdp_s7200_high_end_4k_blu_ray_disc.html), also at $398.00.

I am beginning to believe.

At least they didn't post a picture of the S6200 like the other site did on their S7200 page.

So this would need to be a specific model for the US owuldn't it? On Amazon UK it says the S7200 is for Region 2 playback only.

I have been informed that the BDP-S7200 that we sell is a Sony USA model and it is a brand new model.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

Didn't see your questions until now; probably not a good idea to add them via edits. Never had to edit user defined options for separate streams. Are you sure you're correctly setting command line options under Muxing / Add command line options in mmg?

Hopefully the S7200 will also be available in Canada! (Availability of the S790 is very, very limited here.)

Having said that, I also hope the price comes down. $400 is pretty close to Oppo territory. Close enough to make me think about getting one of those instead.

I got a message from Amazon last night announcing that the Amazon App was available (which it's been for a week or so).

Despite that announcement, something is still wrong with the app that is causing picture quality to look terrible.

Other than the looks, isn't the only difference between the S6200 and the S7200 is dual HDMI outputs? If so that is a big price premium just for an extra HDMI output.

You're right, and I don't need the extra HDMI output either, but I HATE that "jewel" look of the other players. The form factor presents a more practical issue as well. Placement of the unit would be easiest if I could place my cable box on top of it, but that isn't an option for the models that have those funny angled tops.

If it wasn't for the silly form factor, I probably would have already gotten a 5200 or a 6200.

Just looking at the only available image of it so far, it could have more robust build quality than S6200.

What I'm waiting for, is someone to say it offers gapless multi-channel playback via USB port. I would pre-order it straight away if that were to happen.

What does "more robust build quality" mean?

The thing is double the cost of the S6200.

I guess for me, I only use my Sony BD players to play back BDs and for internet streaming content. I have several medai players I use for my other content that can do alot more than the the Sony players do. So I never even consider what the Sony players can do with my local content.

I am not exactly sure what the S6200 has - but as for the S7200:

Sony BDP-S7200: Blu-ray 3D, 4K Upscaling, Triluminos, SACD, DSD

Sony will offer this year a range of five new Blu-ray players, the Sony BDP-S7200 upscale. A Blu-ray 3D with a Ultra HD upscaling and capable of reading SACD function, like the BDP-S790 which he is descended, however, it inherits some small innovations for the occasion, to the image of a new noise reduction for video online, new audio processing for compressed audio and multimedia support expanded.

 CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v80), quality = 99

Compatible Triluminos to obtain a gamut close to the standard 4K DCI when connected to a compatible Sony TV, and color processing technology Super Bit Mapping, like its predecessor, the Blu-ray 3D Sony BDP- S7200 has a feature upscaling of DVD and Blu-ray 1080p Ultra HD or 2160p. In addition, he always has a CreasHD video processor (Super Resolution, DNR, etc.).. Small novelty this year is the addition of IP Content Noise Reduction Pro, a noise reducer suitable for video Streaming will be activated as well on online videos for VOD. In terms of audio processing, we note the appearance of Digital Music Enhancer and Dynamic Range Recovery, the first dedicated to the treble and second dynamics, both are intended to improve the quality of compressed audio files. Sony BDP-S7200 Super also has WiFi, a more sensitive antenna module for easy connect to the network if the deck is removed from its box. In terms of multimedia playback, plus support for many file formats (MKV, M2TS, AVCHD, DivX HD, AVI, WMV, MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC, WAV, JPEG, etc..) FLAC & WAV are supported until finally 192 kHz/24-bit, but also new formats such as AIFF and DSD 2.8 and 5.6 MHz. Finally, the deck allows access to the Sony Entertainment Network, to connect to the Opera Store, Music & Video Unlimited, Facebook, Twitter, TV catch-up, etc.. It is also Miracast compatible for exchanging files and duplicate displays the screen of a smartphone or tablet on the TV.

It will be like the 790 - never brought into the country until they realized how great were all the sales that they were losing to the US because of their dumb thinking!

And how does it compare with the Oppo 103...?

Yes it is coming But keep your BDP-S790,

I just took back the bdp-s6200 I was waiting on the bpd-s7200 I have now seen the specs. On the Europe sites and still only 1 hdmi out, I really think Sony is taking a step back. The s790 had 2 hdmi outs, TV and audio for those like me that have a 5500.00 receiver with V1.4 HDMI that do not want to change for just a HDMI upgrade. We will need to look elsewhere, splitters have a copy right chip in them so they cannot split TV and 7.1 channel audio.

This is what there are up against Panasonic DMP-BDT700 coming out in May-June dual HDMI 2.0 out and the OPPO BDP-103D good luck...

And the extra $200+ (vs. the 6200)...

Yeah me too...

You would think to warrant that price they'd have fluffed it up a bit and turned it into an S1500ES or something (assuming they haven't used that model # elsewhere in the world already). Give it ES badging and a 5-year warranty...at least. You know, like what they did with the S760 in the US (S1000ES).

If the S7200 only has one HDMI output then that would really be crazy. That would mean the only difference between the S6200 and the S7200 would be the styling. Even if the S7200 has two HDMI outputs, I don;t see how that is worth an extra $200. I really don't even see how the S6200 is worth $180. I mean I like my S6200 but it was certainly not worth $180.

Different case. I still say it's going to be plastic.
Super scaler engine

That's pretty much it.

What is a "Super Scaler Engine"? That sounds like another worthless feature. Just like the audio enhancement which can't fully be utilized since mulit-channel DD(Legacy and advanced) content can't be decoded,. WHich is where the audio enhancement would actually need to be used. UNless the S7200 can decode DD and output in multi-channel PCM. But that still would not make it worth the price premium.

I wonder if the sites just don't have the price wrong? Perhaps it's supposed to be $249 and not $399?
