It is impossible to have component and hdmi in puts. The first is analog, and the second is a digital stream purposely made too large to record.

They will have firewire, but now I'm just trying to figure out if they will be smart enough to include integrated ATSC and QAM (with cablecard) tuners.

Yeah, I wonder what a TASCAM player or recorder will cost ? The premium over the regular TEAC models will be tremendous.

I've read that the Pioneer BD player will also upconvert sd DVD... Does anyone know if it'll be up to the same quality as the elite 59?!?!?

oh and will upconversion be to only 1080? or also 720p?

well of course that's if the info was released!

I don't think 1st generation Blue Ray players will play legacy DVDs at all, I could be wrong...

All announced Blu Ray players up scale sd dvd to 1080i or 1080p in the case of the Sony.

And if your lucky, your Tosheeeeeeeba might actually play a disc of any kind without hiccups....but don't count on it as they make some of the worst sd dvd players that are made today.
No self respecting A/V nut owns a Tosheeeeba.....and nobody can argue this fact.
