Its prolly true for Germany and Japan but here in the good ole USA, politicians are not representing us, they represent Hollywood and the all mighty dollar. Our congressmen and women are to busy taking money from people like the MPAA who believe that the consumer is just renting their content and that we don't have the right to do anything with it except what they approve or disaprove of it. I had a sit down with my Congressman two months ago at a fund raiser. He told me that it was in the best interest of everyone in America to close the analog loop hole. I asked him if he knew that their were 6 million HDTVs in the United States with Analog only capable. He said he didn't not know that. I also informed him that this loop-hole law would prohibit the ability of the average consumer to add analog camcorder footage to be switched to digital. He basically told me that I was full of it at that point. I said, no I wasn't. The reason is that Hollywood is trying to stop peiople from making copies of movies in movie theaters using camcorders. At that point he said that was a good idea and should be looked into more closely.
His name is representative Mark Udall. I will be running into him this summer, this time as a protester. These scum bags have to be stopped at all costs.
