I hear you!
I went to BB today to maybe add a BR player to my collection since I own 3 flat panel HDTVs, and here in Houston they had 4 in at my local store. I stood there for over an hour and a half toying with the player and viewing 'House of Flying Daggers' and '50 First Dates'. I have to tell you, I was deeply disappointed!
The film was grainy and looked no better than the off air garbage we have been forced to bear from TV stations.
The remote was better than the HD DVD's but I use a $185 learning remote so that doesn't matter to me. The startup and loading times are about 12 seconds faster than the HD DVD, but who cares when something that has been so BUILT UP for so many months produces such sub-par picture quality?
For $1000 I do not see the advantage this format has over HD DVD at all, in fact based on the two movies I saw it does not even measure up!
The morons at my BB actually unplugged the HD DVD player so that customers could not compare them. I wonder why?

Yes I know some blind followers will say "wait until we have more movies" but the competetion came out swinging! We didn't have to wait for HD DVD to bring out more movies before most of us judged it, why should we for $500 more give this OVERRATED HYPE the benefit of the doubt?????
