I think most would disagree with you that it's 'not so much better than SD DVD'. ;)

That's why it's "my opinion". :)

Being a videophile, I think we do need a hidef DVD product to pull out the full potential of our HDTV's. At this time, hopefully Blu-Ray or HD-DVD (or some other format) will eventually do that.

I also think that upconverted DVD is not HD as some would lead you to believe.
It's still SD DVD and is not HD.

Upconversions are not HD, that's for sure.

If the original source is 480p, upconversion does not add to the data that is being sent in 480p.

Think about the A-1 as an upconverting DVD player with free built in HD DVD if you are hesitant about entering the hi-def video market and want a top notch DVD player instead

Well then spend either 500 or 1000 to see better than SD upconverted movies.

Or sit the whole thing out until movies start showing up that ya just gotta watch in High Def.

In my case, I need a good upconverting player anyway soo that makes the marginal cost of a the HD DVD players that much cheaper to me.

The song is not that "old".

Way too early for the HD-DVD folks to declare victory.....like they have on this forum.
