At CEDIA the Pioneer people were very clear that their first generation BD Player could not decode TrueHD and the upcoming DTS high def audio. One of them mumbled this would be tied to HDMI 1.3.

They said their second generation player could do it.

This is a no go for me. TrueHD and/or DTS MA decoding in the player is a must.

Is it true the Panasonic has DTS HD and TRUE HD decoders inside? (I've been out of town and am trying to catch up)..

There are more than a handful of [op amps] that sound so good that most designers want to be using them as opposed to discreet transistors. Dave Reich, Theta 2009

It's been said that it will be able to decode DTS-HD MA and TrueHD after a firmware release which should happen Jan. or early next year. They are saying that the unit will ship with a coupon stating that fact.

A coupon? Is that good for one free upgrade? Are they going to charge for future upgrade discs or something? OR did you just mean a notice of update availability? :D

I was also puzzled by that one free upgrade. At least with Toshiba upgrades are free. I have enough with manufacturer that promise essential features after delivery. If will wait until this is included in the player before buying.

The EU player did not have such a coupon - only a slip with reference to the panasonic firmware site. The FOX titles are getting very close now - it really would be great if we got a new capable firmware update about the same time for the Panasonic. What about the Samsung owners is there any hope for you guys regarding DTS HD lossless?

I m gonna wait too for a release of a player with 7.1 analogue output that supports all the codecs.
