Just like the title says... I went to this years CES... got home late last night. I have a lot of pics from the Blu-Ray booth. I spent a lot of time talking with the people and got to partake in a studygroup and got 4 free movies for doing it. Also ventured around the HD-DVD booth and was totally not impressed. I have pics from there too. Let me know and I will upload if anyone is interested. Also got pics for the new concept 200gb disc they (TDK) are developing.

I thought there was supposed to be a $400-500 BD player announced at CES 2007. Anyone know what happened to that? Don't get me wrong I like the Sammy BD-P1200 but $800 is still 2x of what $400 is

Someone tell Plazman, he said that BD only had software schedules for this year (as if that wasn't enough)

yeah.... the blu-ray booth was a collaboration of all the blu-ray supporters but no one was there the 2 times I went from Hitachi to answer questions about the burner. It is a standalone burner and there is also a blue drive (for pc)... which is a reader of blu-ray/dvd/cd.... kinda cool... I have video of the press release of the new LG Combo Drive... I may upload that... but it is about 30 mins of video.. not too sure if I want to go through all the trouble... confrenece was cool... got free movies... free cds (dts-hd sound track) and made amounts of flyers.... anywho.. going to watch some BD movies...

never said that.... you are putting words in my mouth... the XA2 was cool with 1080p... the video/audio presentation I saw didn't have that wow factor. The image I felt was soft and didn't have that "pop" that some of the blu-ray movies I have seen have. Maybe it was the calibration on tv... maybed it was HD-DVD... I don't know.... just felt the picture on the blu-ray was better

The XA2 doesn't have "pop"? lol

BD is known to be softer than HD DVD btw.

again... like I said... might have been the calibration on the tv... other people in the seminar were saying the images wasn't that great... the demo room was a setup that was in a semi-truck trailer.... quote me a laugh all you want... I was at the show.... I saw it first hand... and I saw what I saw. I was just posting this for informative purposes... didn't want to start a pissing contest about the format war...

First of all, I have a XA2 coming from VE on Friday. 2nd, unless you were there to see the same presentation, how the hell do you know WHAT HE SAW? He stated what he saw and also added it could be a number of things causing the lack of great PQ.

This reminds me of a thread yesterday where there was a debate about who has more trolls? A member stated he believed more BD trolls cruised the HD-DVD forums...when other members stated both sides have problems...he admited he'd never visited the BD forums...WTF? What kind of credibility does someone have when they make a statement, but are merely repeating what they assume to be true or want to be true to support an arguement.

I sure like the look of that Pioneer player. Nice....

Well shoot, I would of liked the Blu-ray stuff much better too if they gave me free movies.

Just kidding there. Nice post, great pics.

I really appreciate your comments on the pictures... I am sad to say these don't show my skill or what my camera is capable of. For one they are so badly compressed for the quick loading of the website they have lost all their depth. Secondly this is probably the first time I have picked up my camera in close to 8 months... I am way way rusty... Thirdly... I didn't have my good flash with me and had to free hand most of them and they are a bit blurry for my likings and not proper exposed. If anyone is interested in seeing something I consider "one of my good shots" I would more than happy to post them. I frequent a Canon pro photographer forum and am used to their critiquing. Thanks again, make me feel good even though these look like garbage (to me). Oh yeah, if anyone wants anything they have seen uncompressed and full size (10mp) I will send them gladly... let me know.

Hi jvcjbl,

I was in the CES too, if I knew Blu-ray group was giving out movies, I will work
with them harder I did got 2 free HD DVDs from HD DVD group though

BTW, I think the DTS-HD disk is Blu-ray or HD DVD (they have 2 difference disks) not CD.
I agreed Blu-ray were everywhere in this year CES.

Yeah the focus group was pretty cool... lots of free stuff and what not. The DTS-HD disc is indeed BLU-RAY.... did you go into the HD-DVD trailer for the demo "of what perfect is"...LOL

The DTS CD I was talking about was given to me from Monster Cable... advertising for them

That's a whole lotta Blu Ray and CE support!

Great News for Blu Ray!!!!!

There are more than a handful of [op amps] that sound so good that most designers want to be using them as opposed to discreet transistors. Dave Reich, Theta 2009

No... the new players were introduced with a Spiderman 3 sneak preview... they made us check ALL... I mean ALL electronics devices before we went into the room. To be honest... the new players didn't have a prospected release date that we were told. The BDP-S1 should be around for a bit longer... it was the most common player seen at CES... was used in a few other booths around the show too

LMAO, you go by what's "known". But most of us believe our own eyes or someone who was actually there.
