I just bought a Samsung Blu-ray BDP 1000. I bought this from Tweeter and it was a floor model. The original price was $999.00 and I got it for $698.00. I was assured that it was hardly used. It came with the manual and remote. No HDMI or Component cables. I was talked into buying the Audio Quest HDMI-X cables for $119.00. Did I get ripped off? Because I was told that I could buy it new from Tigerdirect for $599.99 and it comes with the HDMI cables. Should I return this tomorrow? Please help.

It should of come with an HDMI cable, I would take it back. You could do better. Even a quick search of BestBuy shows what you payed for it and new!!! Plus you wouldnt have to buy an HDMI cable.

Sorry, but you did not get a good deal at Tweeter. The MSRP has been $799 for about 3 months now so they should have discounted from that price not the original $999 price. You can get it on clearance at Circuit City for $599 and from Amazon for $499 (new). You should be able to get BB and CC to price Office/Tech Depot's price of $589 and you may even be able to get them match Amazon's price. This player is on the way out (soon to be replaced by newer model) so dealers want to get rid of stock of existing player. As for the missing HDMI cable you can get one cheap at Walmart or at even better prices online.

What about this? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/cus...3331688&sr=1-1
Looks good, it should come with the HDMI cable. Buy.com has one also, http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...90#prodInfoSec
I just want to get the best out of my Sony XRSD 50".

Yes, thats what I was referring to in my previous post (plus no tax and free shipping). All new players include a HDMI cable. Its not great but its adequate. I would go back to Tweeter and have them re-sell the player to you for $499 (same $300 discount as before but off $799 MSRP not $999) and return it if they don't and buy elsewhere. Btw, the Samsung BD player works just fine using a component connection to the SXRD.

Take it back.

Also paying $119 for HDMI cable is a ripoff. I bought 6' cable from monoprice and it was $5.98. Works great.

vinodk 03-08-2007 07:29 AM

Even at my local Frys they are selling for $599.00.

MARINECOP 03-08-2007 07:48 AM

Thanks for the help. I am taking it back today.

Got one last week at BB. I printed out the on line Target price of $524. They matched it.

DavidHir 03-08-2007 01:34 PM

Return both.

ack_bk 03-08-2007 02:01 PM

Agreed. you can buy a refurb one for around $400 or a new one for less than $500 online. I would not spend more than $20 for an HDMI cable...

100% agree; just placed another order with Monoprice - they are the best for quality cables and a fantastic price.

TriptonUpman 03-08-2007 02:07 PM

return the cable, get that from monoprice.com.

take the player back, make them price match, if they dont, return it.

Suzook 03-08-2007 02:13 PM

return both, get PS3 or Sony player that can be had for round $700
and for gods sake DO NOT BUY an HDMI cable anywhere but monoprice

I just returned it. They did bust my chops, but I got my money back. What about OPPO 981HD? Is it any good?

Tweeter is pretty annoying. I've never had a good experience there. One time, I was ready to plunk down big bucks >$1000 on a receiver, and made that clear. The guy who was helping me couldn't find the remote control for the model I wanted. So he disappeared for 15 minutes looking for it. Finally I saw him talking to another salesman, chit-chatting. I asked him about the remote. He basically shrugged his shoulders and said no luck, oh well whatyagonnado? I just walked out without saying another word. Now I just use it as a showroom with no intention to buy there, and feel absolutely no guilt about it. It's not even very good for that, since they cram so many components together and have poor lighting and sound control.

Don't let your bad experience prevent you from getting the Sammy. Just buy one online like everyone else. The money you'll save will finance a whole lot of movies.

That is true, thanks. I am going with Amazon.
