Has anyone had this problem?
Setting the audio to bitstream, I can't get the bitstream signal to transmit over HDMI?

Anyone having lip sync problems?
I am sending the HDMI to my television and audio feed via coaxial to my receiver.
I played The Prestige and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang- Both discs gave me lip sync issues.
I had to adjust the delay quite a bit to get it close.

(I am also getting lip sync issues with my Toshiba HDXA2)

What can be done to fix this? HDMI directly into the receiver?

I love HD image- but I never had such issues with SD DVD.

Since you are going direct to your TV you should be getting the quickest video signal path. Using the audio delay in your receiver to correct this is fine. Whatever processing your player or TV are doing is just taking some time. It is not preferred to have lip sync issues but it happens. You can try to run the hdmi via the receiver to see if it makes anything better but it may also make the lip sync issue worse.

Where is your video signal being processed?

If you're running 1080p/24fps, lip sync issues are a known glitch on the 1200. Folks are hoping a future firmware update will correct this.

Thanks,

If you're having difficulties downloading via the player, try updating the firmware by burning it to disc off of the website and installing it via that disc.

BD-P1200 firmware found here: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/do...ype=FM&vType=R

v1.0 is the latest

Yes- I'm sending 1080p/24fps.
How on earth does Samsung release a product without checking this out?
Or did they know about it and shipped units anyway?

Oh well- I suppose I could call Samsung support and voice my 2cents for a firmware fix.

Thanks.

I just watched The Prestige last last night outputing 1080p@60fps with no lip sync issues. I don't even try 24fps anymore as the lip sync is unacceptable and my receiver doesn't have delay adjustments. My gear is connected like yours except with optical audio.

Got my Blu Ray delivered yesterday. Watched 1 movie and it was just fine. Loved the picture clarity.

BUT today I hit my OPEN/EJECT button to removed my Blu Ray DVD from yesterday and the unit LOCKED UP.

Called Samsung Support and they said to either A. Return to the store I bought it from. B. Send it to them for repair.

But this UNIT is only 16 hours old. How can this happen. Customer care stated that it does happen sometime if you are able to unstick the unit by UNPLUGGING it, leave it like that for an unspecified time and plug it back in. Else, you are SOL!

Anyone know any other ideas on how to solve. My Blu Ray DVD is still stuck in the unit.

Did you try the unplugging solution yet? My 1200 locked up hard one time while watching a BR movie and the only way I got it to reset was unplug it and plug it back in. Unit then powered up ok and worked fine until the next lockup. I ended up returning that 1200 to Amazon.

Good luck.

I own a high end A/V store and i have been totally neutral in the whole Blu-Ray & HD-DVD deal... but i just went out and got myself a BDP-1200 running it on Parasound HALO seperates ( C2 controller A51 250 X 5 amp, A21 250 X 2 for 7.1 with a Dynaudio speaker setup Contour S 5.4 mains S CX center, SR sides, and S 1.4 rears with 2 Sub 500 in a balanced array) the system is kicking!! i love it, why in the world you would go to HD-DVD i don't know... but the reason i wrote this is i have an affirmative that Denon is producing a Blu-ray player in September. There will be 2 models a standard and then a higher end one, kind of like the 2900 and 5900 series, ya know??? no price or nothing.. but i can't say who told mejust know its legit.

I just purchased the BD-P1200 this week from Sears (cost of $599.00) and it plays beautifully. The picture on my 720P/1080I Panasonic Plasma was excellent. The BD played using the 1080P setting which my TV accepts. I watched Casino Royale last night for my first BD. I am using the coaxial digital into my AV and it sounded really good. I did one pause w/o any problems and the BD ejected OK after viewing. After buying the 1200, first thing that I did was the firmware update via the internet. That was very easy to do. I noticed that the player version was updated first. Did you do your firmware update? I have read all of the threads on this posting and have found them to be both additive and much informative. Thanks to all, keep up the insight which helps us all. I also own the Toshiba A2 HD-DVD player and have enjoyed watching those HD movies as well. I don't suppose there is a reset button on the outside of this BD player? That would be too easy I suppose.

Good luck.

Is anyone familiar with this issue? Its killin' me as its forcing me to run coax for SD DVDs (going into the 1200 and setting it a bitstream) and then HDMI Audio for Hi Def DVDs (going back into the 1200 to set it for PCM).

aaron_hinni was/is having this same problem with a Pio receiver a while back - see post #340 in this thread. I can't recall if others are, as well, but I am not having problems using bitstream/HDMI/Denon 2807. You may wish to PM aaron who's a nice and knowledgable guy. Good luck!

Thanks. I'll do that. I'll also try another 1200 unit. I had the Sony for awhile and it worked fine with my HDMI processor.

Welcome. After re-reading my post and to be clear, I should have said that I am not having problems sending bitstream via HDMI to my Denon 2807. So we know the Sammy will do it in some circumstances

Which audio format are you trying to send via bitstream through HDMI?
Regular DD, DTS, Multichannel PCM (<= 5.1) pass fine for me through HDMI.
DTS-ES(!?), TrueHD, Dobly Digital+, DTS-HD MA don't pass through HDMI.

EDIT: I did have the lip-sync issue at 1080p @24fps.

Add 2 more BD watched. I stopped "The Departed" halfway through and shut everything down for the night. Today I fired everything up and the BD started up where I left off but only for a few frames. It ejected and gave the message - "CANNOT PLAY THIS DISK". I closed the tray again and it started up normally from the beginning of the disk with no further problems. It was a Netflix disk but I thoroughly cleaned it before use as I always do.

I have the most current FW which I uploaded via a CD. I believe it to be the 05/23 FW. So far, 2 freezing incidents in about 25+ BD viewing occasions.

Hi,
I have two more to add to this same problem. I had a freeze on "Derailed" near the end of chapter 16. I had to unplug the player and plug it back in. Then I had to go to chapter 17 to avoid the freezing. (I had tried several times to continue from where I had the problem without success). Even if there is a problem with a DVD, the system should not reuiqre being unplugged to resolve!

Also had the problem with "The Shooter" with Mark Walhberg. I don't remember where in the movie.

Does the Sony BD have locking problems like the 1200? Customer Support stated that it does happen on the Samsung.

I could not un-stick/lock my 1200. I have my BD DVD now stuck in. Menu either says "LOADING" or "OPEN" depending on what button I hit.

I had the same issue with Pioneer 94. Completely locked up even with multiple unpluggings. After I pulled it from the rack to get it boxed up for a return, I plugged it in one more time just in case - and it ejected the disc. I think moving the player jostled something, and it released whatever might have been hung up internally.

No luck here even after opening it up and trying a few 'love' taps.

So far, I've tried 2 BDs. One froze and had lip sync issues @1080i, the seond wouldn'r play at all- it just skipped like crazy, sputtering video and audio regardless of where it was in the disc, even after epeated tries. It plays DVds fine.
I'm underwhelmed.

I spoke to Customer Service today. The person there told me that since the Samsung 1200 is 1.3, both my HDMI cable and my receiver/processor need to be 1.3 in order to send bitstream over HDMI. That doesn't make sense to me but it wasn't worth arguing. Anyway, my cable is 1.3 compliant (new from Cobalt), but my processor is only 1.1. Almost all receivers and certainly all processors are also either only 1.1 or 1.2, so am I missing something here?

Don't think so. My receiver is not HDMI 1.3, yet I'm able to get audio perfectly fine via bitstream. As indicated, that's not true for everyone, but the reason why some do and some don't is beyond my limited technical expertise, sorry!

I had a problem with the blu ray version of "Invincible" with Mark Wahlberg, could not get to the disc menu. The back of the box shows clearly that there are some extra features on the disc, wondering if it is player related.
