Well I finally got a 1200 today, picked one up at the local CC. The picture quality is quite good. This player is not clipping head or toe room, is not cropping any pixels, does not have any CUE issues and is retaining the full luma and chroma resolution. Very similar to the Sony in this regard. But they have a leg up in that they used the Reon chip for their I/P conversion so this player supports 2-2 cadences correctly, making it the only player I know of on the Blu-ray side that can. So officially this is the first Blu-ray player that can output the new Nine Inch Nails BD in 1080p correctly.
It will not go into 24p mode in my setup at all. Doesn't matter if I connect it to my video processor or right into my display, and both accept that frame rate.
Hate the fact that it is either bitstream or PCM. Deal breaker for me really.
Overall I would say this is a great looking player from a picture standpoint and with a few tweaks to the rest of the package it would be one of the best players out there.
Still waiting for the ideal BD player though...........(and the ideal HD DVD player too..........)
