Where is this setting exactly? NM, under display settings. I was looking at BD ones.

The setting works great for DVD/Blu-ray... but... the XMB and games get all screwed up for me. They seem to come out darker. Movies are fine though as verified by DVE

Does this only affect it if you have it set for RGB out, and not the y cr.. setting?

XMB and games are always RGB.... you can only set YCrCb for blu-ray playback

I meant for blu-ray actually. Is it better to keep it on YC or switch to RGB, if RGB is only affected?

My games and menu finally look correct now. However, exiting a BD movie always seems to disable full-range RGB even though the console still says "full."

I noticed this as well... it seems to flip flop with the setting... same thing after a power cycle.

So its not holding the setting, you have to reset it every time you play a movie?

Pardon the super n00b question, but what are BTB and WTW?

I assume blacker than black and whiter than white?

Correct Jeffroy. The question I have are what are the best settings, but I suppose it might take a little while for people to confirm them.

Can someone explain a little bit more about what this fix means? Do you have to have a certain type of set to take advantage of this improvement?

I just posted this elsewhere but here seems more appropriate:

RGB Full-mode only remains on for my downloadable PSN content. It turns off immediately when booting up a ps2 game, dvd or blu-ray. It also turns off when powering off

GREAT NEWS.

Is the improvement from BTB/ WTW also visible on BD-playback or just SD DVD?

Changing RGB to full certainly DOES help, but the problem is that it resets back to the original setting every time you stop watching a movie. Even though in settings, it still says it's on "full." So you have to change it back to limited, and then back to full again for it to turn back on. HOPEFULLY a quick fix is released for that.

Mine isn't doing that. The setting is staying on "full", and I continue to see below black so I know the setting is on.

does anyone know if putting the RGB to full and the super whites on, will make the colors less accurate? is this just basically like putting your TV on dynamic mode?

It could be that your tv doesn't support it somehow?

I just turned my ps3 off and on. Mine keeps the superwhite & full setting.

Sony pay me 10 beeeelion dollars to plant blu-ray seeeeds.

Mine is doing what others are saying too about reverting settings in function just not namesake. It reads that it stays at full but the blacks are back to the limited setting. Try it...switch back to limited. Oddly it wont ask you for a confirmation to switch back to limited. But then go back to full...you should see the blacks deepen again and of course get the confirmation of the switch being made.
