I have the $ for this player, but the times seem a bit on the slow side. My XA2 loads SD faster, in the 30-40 sec range. I know that POTC are JAVA heavy titles, so I expect longer loads on those but was just wondering...
The times for all of the DVDs & Bluray disks are, as you put it, "supplementary". So in order to calculate the time to "load" the disk, simply add all of the numbers together. None of these times include "previews" and other "garbage", i simply stoped timing when I saw the first information stored on the disk. This content varied between disks, from a disney logo, to a FBI warning, etc... Some of these disks have UPO (user prohibitied operations) so you can't skip previews etc, so the time it would take to actually start seeing the movie could vary ALOT and is not a fair assesment of a speed of a player.
For the DVD, that time is from Power On
. For the BluRay times, the unit was already powered on and i started timing from the inserting of the disk drive. It does take a "considerable" time for the 94HD to "Power On", i would guess it around 20+ seconds to reach a point where you could load a disk.
Frankly, from an operation standpoint, from me inserting the disk and walking around the coffee table to sit my lazy a** on the sofa, I start to see the pioneer logo and usually the first disk information shortly there after. The only "bothersome" title has been PotC, which took quite a long time at the spining key/coin.
