I care and I bet alot of others do as well. Anchor Bary put out some great stuff on DVD in it's early days. They put out alot of fun genre sets. I don't think this is small potatos at all.

The fact that Buena Vista is eyeing some classics for BD is big news - they were late jumping into DVD with the animated classics, but when they did, it really gave DVD sales a boost.

It's hard to keep track of what is important!

Could this be it?
http://www.engadgethd.com/2007/06/20...e-for-blu-ray/

Maybe this means that Fox is going to release some titles now?

LOL@Buying Evil Dead, Re-Animator and Night of the Living Dead on HD. What makes those movies great is the lack of quality. I would NEVER buy any of those on a HD format. I want eye candy if I am spending $20-$30 on a HD disc.

Buried within the release is the following line, "...Sleeping Beauty is planned for re-release on DVD in 2008 and will be available on Blue Ray for the first time." Nevermind the fact the author of this press release grossly misspelled "Blu-ray," and focus on what appears to be confirmation of at least one major animated Disney tale going high definition sometime next year.

Not "BIG" in the sense of what this thread is about, but for me personally, Sleeping Beauty on BD would be HUGE. Sigh... Classic (widescreen!) animation in 1080p from the Mouse...

1080p and lossless audio. EVERY BD should have them both.

Sony never said the agency was a big announcment, that was a unrelated website. So your wrong. Why do people feel the need to spread false info? Blu Ray has already won, why people even continue to argue with blind HD DVD fans is beyond me.

LOL@Sleeping Beauty. That's nowhere near a "HUGE" statement, unless you're 5 years old.

I was hoping that someone other than Toshiba would announce a player that does everything it needs to do.

You mean one "classic" a year, like they do on SD DVD?

what would REALLY be a huge announcement would be a $500-$700 DUAL FORMAT player being released by LG or anyone else....
software releases of ANY sort don't really constitute a "HUGE" announcement...

C'mon Sony/Toshiba/LG, listen to what the public REALLY wants and respond for a change insted of continuing to confuse and frustrate the public....

i dunno how u can relate that to me being a hd-dvd fan. i'm a full supporter of blu-ray with no hd-dvd players and can't wait til it becomes the only HD format.

maybe sony didn't claim agency was a big announcement, but a few ppl on the playstation forums sure as hell did and hyped it up more than it should've been. if saying what i seen on another thread in the forum is spreading false info then i'm sorry. all i'm saying is we shouldnt expect much out of these announcements.

The next "HUGE" Sony announcement will be, they're releasing a lower priced player, with a MSRP of $498.

That would be a bigger announcement. Didn't they already have a PS3 at $499? Well at least they did. Glad thing I got it when I did.

Make it $350 or below and they can seal the deal with HD-DVD. I dont really expect this to happen with Sony involved though. They always manage to screw things up.

I think we'll see a $99 MSRP HD-DVD player, before we see a Sony player under $350.

Given the MSRP's only differ by $100 now, you could be wrong.

No Sony did not, Beatboy did!

Egg on his face again.

I'd love to get my hands on a Blu Monster's Ball.-LilStinky

Refering to a possible release of said movie on BD LOL

Good point... I think it will come down to whether consumers really view the Blu-ray format as being worth the extra $$ over an HD DVD player. It's also worth noting that it's essentially a version 1 BD player Vs. a Gen 2 final spec HD DVD player. Kinda apples and oranges.

Toshiba is going to have to stomach much lower prices for the remainder of this year if they want any chance of fending off Sony.

Sony managed to do well with putting a BD player in millions of homes via the PS3, Toshiba has a format with less content, their only option at this time is to dump the price as low as they can without dying and suck up the losses.

Or, they are done.

Well I been a fan of Toshiba products, own a TV in the kitchen, one in storage, a DVD player a computer... a Tivo/DVD player....etc.... I been paying them royalities on DVD for some time now. What would be a cool annoucement is that Toshiba and Sony pull there collective heads out of there asses and come up with a solution so I don't have to listen to this BS HD-DVD crap in a Blu-Ray forum.. Sorry guys, but your taking this thread elsewhere..... Toshiba had a head start we all now this, this summer it will get ugly and by Fall some one will fall..... Now that being said I think I will go rent a few Blu-Ray movies from Blockbuster...... Urza, I think you would look good in Blu and I agree with you on beatmeboy...
