Can PS3 bookmark DVDs or BDs? It doesn't play movies from the last viewed scenes after it is turned off.

Thanks.

Nope. That's one feature I would love to have, too. I think it would be easy enough for Sony to add it to the PS3's features.

oh, what a shame and surprise!

I just got my PS3 yesterday and was completely shocked to find out with a 80GB harddisk it doesn't have a feature that my 1st gen Sony DVD Player from 12 years did.

Is there a petition that we could start or something?

If someone starts one, I'll sign it.

I, too, have a Sony DVD player that remembers the stopping points.

Does anybody know if this has been addressed with any recent firmware updates or will be addressed in a future update?

Yes the PS3 can auto restart where you stopped on DVD's and most BD's. The only exception is where the BD's are 2.0 Live. And the ability to do restart where the BD was stopped came with one of the more recent updates.

I own two PS3's, one for 19 months and one for 7 months. There have been many firmware updates for it. This, the BD software forum and PS gaming forum are all loaded with knowledge about what the PS3 can and cannot do. I suggest any owners who do not go to those forums to do so as it will greatly increase your appreciation for what the PS3 can do. As of yet it is still considered one of the best, if not the best BD players available for all it can do.

One more update that gamers are waiting for which is in game chat and it will be considered a "perfect" media machine by many.

I was watching Across the Universe BD on my PS3 60G and there was a specific BOOKMARK section to look at on the movie's menu screen. So the option is available, but perhaps on specific BDs? I don't recall ever seing this option on any DVD I have played though.

I have only just bought a PS3 primarily for its Bluray functionality, so am still getting to grips with how to use it.

I was watching the Fifth Element last night and couldn't for the life of me find any bookmarking functionality. I had read somewhere that you could press the green options triangle, and then use the colour buttons to bookmark but this didn't work for me. It also doesn't seem to remember your last played position after putting the PS3 in standby. Am I missing a setting that enables this, or this other peoples experience to?
