After reading this whole thread today I had to run up to CC and pick one of these thangs up. It is updating the FW as I write this. Can't wait to hear DTS Master HD and Dolby True HD. I always thought I would go HD DVD first but I guess not.

How long does it take to download the update via cat5? It seems like it is taking forever.

I assume the 1400 passes bitstream for all sound formats? (TrueHD, DTS-MA, etc.....)

Ok look I'm NOT trolling...I've been looking for a BD player and I just want to know if this player can decode the codecs. I ask because I'm using just a 2.0 system with a reciever that cant decode the new stuff. So I need a player to do it.

The 1400 only decodes Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital True HD, DTS & DTS-HD-High Resolution Audio. DTS-HD-Master Audio is bitstream only.

Ok this is the last time I'm going to answer this. Maybe we need a sticky to report what each player decodes. Ahhh..... people don't read it after anyways.

Yes, from my take on this, the DTS_HD master sounds better bitsream with 1400 vs. PS3 inside player, but not a lot to me, sort of the difference in DD+ and DDTrueHD. I think a lot depends on each individual movie even some standard DVD's in DTS and DD sound great. A lot more evaluation needs to be done before I can say it's a huge improvement, but this is so subjective, who knows.
My receiver is the Onkyo 705.

Well remember the PS3 is only giving you dts-core even if decoded in the PS3.

Hi folks, great info in here Quick question, anyone running an Infocus PJ with 1 of these thru the M1 port?

I have an str-dg910 sony receiver and just got done with about an hour of sony on the phone, as well as another hour with level2 samsung, and both of course want to shed blame... I get a/v with a comcast box on all ports of hdmi in the receiver, but no audio with the 1400. Video is fine, as well as optical out, but no A/V with the samsung?

Thanks in advance.

Has anyone tested the TrueHD bitsream in the receiver against the decoding to PCM done in the player?

Thoughts?

Just got finished watching X-Men with DTSMHD. The sound is very clean coming trhough my speakers. I noticed that dialogue from center channel sound like they were right in the room with you. I had to pump up the bass about 2 db on DTSMHD. I look forward to trying DTHD. Can anyone suggest a good disk to try? Kevinca1 thanks for the headsup on X-Men you were right.
