Im getting all pioneer elite components delivered and installed on the 22nd of sept.

the 1) 110FD plasma TV
2) the VSX-94TXH receiver
and 3) the BDP-94HD Blue-ray

would it be worth it for me to wait for the 95 blue-ray (I can still return the 94) or should I just stick to what I have and keep the 94 blue-ray?

The receiver is HDMI 1.3 and can decode all the DTS HD and the Dolby True HD stuff already...so will the 95 make things better?

My understanding is that unless a firmware update is released, the 94 cannot currently pass the DTS HD/MA through bitstream for your 94TXH to decode, while the 95 will be able to.

My dealer is going to allow me to swap my 94 for a 95 when they get them, because had I known the 95 was coming so soon I would have waited. Thats just my 0.2.

Once the 95 comes out (soon) it will be easier to answer your question. On paper the 95 should be better but until we get hands on experience we can't say for sure...

For my latest Reviews and Stuff google -> Joe Rod Home Theater .Com

If the PLAYER can truly do the decoding internally, than I would be able to use my analog connections and get either Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD/MA. If the player sends bitstream out, than the RECEIVER must do the decoding, and therefore must be one that has HDMI 1.3 and the ability to decode these formats. Is this correct?

I also agree. You understand what's going on.

Pioneer's site states that the VSX-94TXH receiver does decode DTS-HD/MA. In that case, it will accept the bitstream from the BDP-95HD player and decode it properly. So, yes, it will be worth it to have the 95.

Hey guys what do you think the chances are for a firmware upgrade for the BDP 94 to decode DTS HD(not HR or MA)?

The only BD or HD DVD I have with only DTS HD is movies from Europe. DTS HD seam to be a lot more popular on European Titles.

I believe the HD1 and the 94HD will receive a FW update for DTS-HD HR sometime in October, right around the release of the 95HD, just like the HD1 received a TrueHD FW update right before the release of the 94HD...This of course is not fact from any source, just a prediction.

Go Celtics!

Pioneer ELITE components usually are more expensive because they are build with higher quality components, according to Pioneer.

AS far as I know the 94 will never pass TrueHD or DTSMA as bitstream, no matter what firmware they make for it.

Well in this case I will go for a Kia since the Kia has the Reon chip which the Lexus does not.

All I can say is they really need to delay the thing to make it 1.1 compliant. I personally do not care one whit for the extra features, just give me the movie with the best audio possible and a good picture quality. However, Pioneer is catching heat for releasing the same player with just a few more features, and it would be a real boost to the Blu-ray camp to have a 1.1 player with the quality that Pioneer has to be out before the Christmas buying season.
