Can someone please elaborate on what you can playback with the Home Media Galery? I have all of my DVDs ripped to a server in either VIEDO_TS folers or some of them are in .ISO format. Can you play either these back via the 95FD? If so, can you output them in 480i via HDMI (to allow my scaler to the the work)? If so, I'd love to get rid of my HTPC...as I really just want a no frills, quick startup, player for SD-DVD's. Can somoen that's used it please comment?

Got my 95 from Jeff at the Pioneer store yesterday afternoon. Watched (listened!) to the Dave Matthews Concert and X-men. Oustand picture and sound quality. I'm not into extra features on disk much, just want to watch movies with the best picture and sound. This player certainly has it.

I also own the Sammy 1400 and while the 95 I feel is better all around, at the price point of the Sammy, it is certainly no slouch. With the 95 and the Tosh XA2, it's HD heaven!

I miss the rosewood sides on the old Pioneer Elite equipment!

A big thanks to Jeff at the Pioneer store. I got mine unit yesterday. Mark was a great help along with the whole staff there. A very solid unit I look foward to many hours of enjoyment from this machine. I knew I was getting a big step up from my 1200. Just not this big.

This does not suprise me one bit. Vista seems to not play well with others. Which is why I think the MS extended the selling time for XP.

Update on my BB purchase.

Just got back from BB and the player wasn't there. Excuse I got is that it was somehow cancelled. I actually called them yesterday to verify order and I was told it would be here today. Typical, I almost expected it. I should have known better than to expect more than just buying a simple battery from those idiots!!!! They kept apologizing but they could not give me a satisfying answer. Minimum wage strikes again!!! I heard all the stories and it's actually my fault for going there.

Called Pioneer store in Cal. and Mark is having one shipped to me next day. Should have it by Monday.

Jose.

Yes, you can play these files over the network with the Home Media Gallery. You may have to rename them to .mpg though. And yes, you also can play them at 480i via HDMI.

What are you basing this on?
1) can't rename iso's. they are disk images.
2) renaming vob files isn't enough to get the entire movie
3) so can you also play dvds at 480i over hdmi? are you 100% sure?

Are you really hearing a difference?

Does Sony supply the guts or does Pioneer to Sony with these models?
I guess it doesn't really matter.
Very few OEMs left anyway.

Quick Question:
Looking to get a new DTS HD-MA receiver with the new 95FD coming in (I picked up Denon's 2807 as a stop-gap). I don't recall seeing this one answered, but does any one here with the 95FD already have any rec's? Leaning between either Pioneer's new elite receiver or the Denon 3808, has anyone noticed one enhancing the 95FD (or vice-versa) better?

I'm using the 95FD with a Denon 4308ci. Tried all the audio formats last night and all work just great via bitstream. No problems whatsoever. And the DTS MA sound is really spectacular. More of a difference between core DTS than I was expecting.

I have a Pio Elite VSX-84TXSi and I am doing a major video upgrade this year including a Pio PDP-6010 and probably this DVD-95FD blue ray player.

I would like to hear the new DTS Master Audio soundtracks, but I can't figure out if this DVD player and Receiver can accomplish it over HDMI or even analog. Any help is appreciatied.

Paul

Over analog is a no go since the player does not decode it. As to the receiver I know it is not part of the specs, but you could call Pioneer and try to find out. My guess is that it will not.

No, the 84TX will not decode any of the new formats over HDMI. And if you're going to let the decode the formats and pass them via PCM, then you'll need to make sure you have the updated firmware for the 84TX to get the proper sound.

Has anybody ordered the player from VE and received it? I have been promised one every week for the last month and I am about to break down and go to BB.

I suspect that due to the apparent lack of available players (95), that the Pioneer store in Calf is the best bet to get one early on in it's release. I know Jeff (manager of the Pioneer store) mentioned the other day that he got his
2nd shipment in and had filled all pre-orders and had some left to sell.

Pioneer may be filling up their own store before shipping many to other retailers. Robert could give us a better glance at how the Pio distribution network works! I have yet to see any at BB.

I have a question on the use of HMG. When I access music on HMG, it lists all of my albums but when I hit enter at any album, no songs show. I'm no expert at Windows media player, but I can see and play all of the songs using wmp on my computer, but HMG doesnt seem to recognize them. Can someone tell me what I need to do for HMG to see and play them. They are mp3s at 320kbs. Thanks !

EDIT: Sorry--It seems to be working now, maybe it just needed some time to populate since I had just hooked it up.

Music and photos seem to be "behaving" properly, however movies is grayed out when I access HMG. I have one *.wmv file that I have added to my wmp video library. Shouldn't that be recognized by HMG ? Is there any documentation anywhere regarding exactly how this works and where files need to be placed to be recognized ?
Thanks !

Opinions please. Is there any reason to move from the 94HD to the 95FP if I'm going to stick with my Anthem AVM30, and use the analog connection?
